Which resort if you could chose any..

I beg to differ. And, if you read the post that you quoted, she states that she has stayed at all levels of resorts.

I have stayed at all levels, except Moderate and DVC and I am really excited to be going back to Pop in June for my birthday. While money can be a problem for me, if it wasn't, then I would sometimes prefer to stay at a Value. The theme of the pool does nothing for me, we may use them once if at all, I am there to go to the parks. All of the resorts are Handicapped friendly, not just the Deluxe. I can't say that the transportation is far superior, because I had a far longer wait for transportation at the Y&B Club than I did at Pop or AS Movies, or even CR for that matter. My only ral complaint about the Values is the size of the beds in a standard room, but I am so tired after a day at the parks, it really doesn't matter. I really didn't think there was a HUGE difference in the size of the room. Obviously the rooms were larger, but not that much.

But to each his own. That is why they make Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream.

Hey Suzanne, Let me just start off by saying I appreciate your post and would never demise you in your thoughts or opinions..but the original post asked what resort you would stay at if money was no option? I have stayed at a value resort once and have been fortunate to stay at deluxes ever since. I said the deluxe resorts are handicapped friendly also..I never said the value weren't...The transportation options at some of the deluxe resorts are far superior then the value..boat, monorail and buses because of their proximity to the parks. At the value you only have the buses which is not always the best means of transportation...again the question was which resort would you pick if money was not an option..I find it hard to pick a value if you had all the money in the world...;)

If money were no object (and I hope that happens one day), I would like to stay at the GF. But only for one night because my DH thinks it's too stuffy. After I leave the GF, I would like to move on to the Poly for a couple of nights. Then, I may want to go back home to POR. Love the grounds, love the pools. I do not like the CR at all. I feel it is too dismal in the evening. Just a personal feeling.

Yes, that is what the OP asked, but you didn't quote that one, you made a comment about another post.

You insinuated that the Value's are not handicapped friendly. Now we haven't stayed in a HA room, but will on future trips because my mom now needs that type accommodation. I think that the transportation is is about the same resort wide, some may seem superior because of location, but we have never had bad transportation service, except at FW and one experience at Y & B Club, and that was because I am not a patient person. What does it matter that the Value's only have bus transport, we use ECV's and some of the boats don't accommodate them.

I would still sometimes pick a Value (more than likely Pop Century) even if I had all the money in the world, because of the Disneyesque theming. I don't know what is so hard to believe about that.

I surely didn't see reason that would make me want to stay at the Poly. But, I do have a goal to stay at each resort at least for one night, so I can say that I did it. To date I am 6 down and 12? to go. Really didn't care for AKL at all, oh and they only have bus transport.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if money was really no object then I would slip the dream team a couple of hundred thousand and stay at the castle suite:thumbsup2.

I am pretty sure it is centrally located IN the MK.

All joking aside, I was just able to get a really good deal for the BC in a couple of weeks as you can see by my sig. I have two DD's (just under 4 and just under 2) and I can report back how it went when i get home.

This is just kind of strange to me...you are stating that a value resort is what you would pick if you could choose any resort on property? Have your ever tried a deluxe property? I am just curious because they have better themed pools, they are Handicap friendly, The transportation options are far superior then the All Star Resorts, They have sit down restaurants and the rooms are almost double the size of the value...if you have the means you should try one to see the HUGE difference..:)

I stayed in a CR tower room for my 40th Birthday in 1990 and I enjoyed the view of MK from my room. I am glad I got to experience it once. But I do not spend much time in my room when I am at WDW. I am always out and about.

I do not feel that the transportation from the deluxe resorts is superior.

Transpotation times ( in # of Minutes)to the parks according to my passporter book

All Stars-------CR------------GF----------Poly
MK-----20----20(mono)------3 (mono)-----10 (mono)
Epcot--10----15+15(mono)--12+10(mono)---10+10(momo)
MGM---10----20-------------10------------15
Ak-----10----20------------15------------15
DTD---15----35-------------20------------25

Yes, the monorail resorts are closer to the MK and the travel time to MK is usually less but the travel time to any of the other parks is less from the All Stars.

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

Sorry, but I disagree strongly about Disney's deluxe resorts being handicapped friendly.

For one thing I need a room with a roll in shower.
The CR only has 2 HA rooms with roll in showers that have MK view.
One is on the 12th floor Club level and the other is on the 14th floor club level. They are often booked a year in advance.

Most of the HA rooms with roll in showers at the Poly are garden view rooms in the Rapa Nui building. I would want a MK view. Not availible I was told.

The entry at the values and Mods are much more Handicap friendly.
I am able to get in and out of my All Star room unassisted. This way my husband can go and play a round of golf and know I can leave my room to relax by the pool if I choose.

Notice how the entry is angled thus allowing me to remain seated and still get the door open from inside the room.

The door of the deluxe room is in the hallway with a closet on one side and the bathroom on the other side. I cannot open the door while remaining seated because I am in the
way.

Just my 2 cents.

........ I really didn't think there was a HUGE difference in the size of the room. Obviously the rooms were larger, but not that much.

Suzanne

I agree.

Room Size :Value vs. MOD

I feel there is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one ( Note: CSR only has 1 sink but it does have a lager vanity area).

POR room lay out *note CSR does not have a luggage seat.
here is the All Star room layout'

All Star room layout

POFQ,POR,and CSR has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.

Room size: Mod vs. Deluxe

Most of the "extra "space at AKL is the bathroom area.
And that really isn't bigger just laid out different with an extra door.
The extra room ,the extra square footage is actually the entry hallway!

Here is the room layout of POR:

Just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry, mericletwins, I realize that I may have come across as argumentative in my above post, and I didn't mean to at all. I hope I didn't offend you. :guilty: Convenience is a matter of preference, and the location that is ideal for one family may leave more to be desired for another. Thankfully, Disney offers so many options for our different needs!

No problem both the Poly and the BC are tops for different reasons. That is why I suggested a split stay. We did that for the first time in January and loved it. :cloud9:  We split between the BC/Poly/GF. What a trip!:thumbsup2

You will LOVE it I think. It is tops on our list. We have staye dthere three times in the last three years. Have a great time. I am so completely jealous!

Thanks so much everyone for your help. you have made things a little easier although i am still not totally decided. I like the idea of splitting the stay though, should help me as I then can narrow down to two instead of one.

Thanks again.:)

If money is no option, I'd stay at the Poly. The beach is great for the kids to play near and watch the water light pageant (can't remember what it's really called), the pool is nice and you can take the boat or monorail to MK. The rooms are nice and so are the food options. My kids (5 and 6 yrs) loved it there.

And if your kids are tired and you don't want to be in MK for fireworks, you can watch from the beach. Ask for a MK view room in the Tahiti building. That's where we stayed and we loved it.
