We're looking between:
Coronado,
Caribbean beach,
Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside.

I'm leaning towards Coronado, it appeals to me more.

Thanks!

I have kids but before kids hand down CSR. It's a great place.

Disney resorts will always have children present and there is not a resort at WDW that is not kid unfriendly. You can reduce your chances of encountering lots of children by going during times of the year when children are in school. That is why I visit in September, but even then there are lots of kids around.

Coronado Springs is a lovely resort. It has a convention center and many business guests, so of the resorts that you listed that may be the best option.

Probably Coronado, as it has a large base of conventions that take place throughout the year that sometimes occupy a large number of rooms. Convention attendees often are traveling singly without their families for business only.

Having said that, I think it's an unrealistic expectation that you're going to find a resort that is devoid of children... to be quite frank, it's Walt Disney World... a family destination. You'll see children everywhere you go. It is quite possible that you will be placed in a room with children on both sides of the wall, even assuming that you choose Coronado and a large convention is in house. It's just the reality of the situation.

Of course I don't expect to avoid children altogether although an "adults only" day at MK would be nice!

We have our airplane tickets booked Decmber 8-16th, it would be before Christmas break so the lights should be up and the kids in school.

Thanks for the input!

You might want to re-think this.............. the week of Dec. 5-12th - Pop Warner and the Cheerleaders will be there.......... I think you'll see TONS of kids everywhere! Sorry!

and they will be everywhere
even if they are not staying at a resort they sometimes practice there

I would probably go with CSR. Since it is a conevention resort, maybe there will be more adults attending conventions, and less kids? I do know that when Disney books school groups they like to put them at the all star resorts, and the port orleans. If you really want to get kid free, what about staying somewhere offsite like the Waldorf Astoria, or the Ritz? Their prices are less that staying at a deluxe, and I am sure their will be less little kids.

Or maybe NOT at WDW at all???? Just sayin........................ :confused3

Every Disney resort has kids, everywhere. Hundreds of kids. At the moderates, probably thousands. Theoretically, it seems that a convention resort should have fewer kids around and about, but in practice, I'm not sure you'd be able to tell the difference. I've never been able to.

It doesn't matter if the kids are in school or not. People bring preschool kids, and people take kids out of school.

If you want a noticeably smaller amount of children, I'm afraid you're going to have to look offsite, particularly at the higher-end resorts like the Ritz-Carlton and the Waldorf. The Waldorf is probably the closest resort that would suit your needs, and there've reportedly been some really good rates offered there. I think it's worth checking out.

And in all seriousness, if you're looking to see somewhat fewer children, you might want to rethink the dates. With Pop Warner going on, there will be teenage cheerleaders and football players everywhere. Cheering on the buses, and in the theme parks. And possibly at your resort, in large numbers. I wouldn't consider staying at a value or moderate during Pop Warner.

This is exactly the places I thought of when reading MrBurns preference...Waldorf (very nice room options too) down by DTD or the Ritz

I would say CSR only because of business travelers but still there will be lots of kids, no matter where you stay. Maybe if you want more adults around you, you should stay off site like at Gaylord(SP), I heard they have adults only pool.

Ah, I forgot the Gaylord Palms. Also a beautiful resort, not too far at all from WDW.

Coronado has had less in my personal experience - it does not appeal to kids so much (other than the pool maybe) and it is a conventioners resort. Hope you have a great vacation.

Just a side note: no matter when you visit WDW, there are always lots and lots and lots of children. ;)

Agreed. Although many people say the CSR is "not" kid friendly, it was always our kids favorites and we know many, many people who have stayed there with their kids and loved it as well. There are kids at every Disney resort, but if there is a large convention at the CSR, you might see less than say at the CBR with the new pirate themed pool.

I would also have to say CSR. We stayed there before we had kids and noticed there were not many children around.

If the idea of being around lots of kids is unappealing to you maybe you want to rethink your vacation destination! No matter where you go, no matter when you go, there will always be lots of kids at Disney!

OP never said she didn't want to be around kids
I get the impression just not 24/7
it would be nice to have somewhere to go and have a little down time from them
I have 2 and can totally respect that,
DW is a family resort and there are all kinds of families
