I was looking more to stay at a deluxe, are there any of those that have more than another?
If you look on the Touring Plans website's room view finder, you can see where the king beds at each deluxe are and what room category they are (for example, it looks like Poly only has king beds in their garden view category). At least then you would know which room category to book to have a better chance. I once stayed at Poly with just DS and we were given a king bed room without making the request. I would suspect if you only have 2 in your party, your chances are going to be a little better to get one as I would imagine they would try to reserve the 2 queen bed rooms for bigger families.
Do you think there's one deluxe resort over the rest that would have the best shot of getting one? I'm trying to see if a certain category would have more over another but can't find anything. The DVC's are nice I stayed in one once, but they are expensive. Do those ever go on sale or the price drop a little?
Thanks! I'll look into these. I don't think DVC would be practical unless it went on sale. I'm waiting to book with Florida resident discounts so I'm just doing prep work now. Do you know if Swan and Dolphin let you get fastpasses 60 days in advance? There are trade-offs (no DME, no 180+10), but you can book a king room at Swan/Dolphin (we prefer the Swan). This is probably as close as you'll get to a guaranteed king at a deluxe unless you book a DVC 1-bedroom (which do occasionally show up in discounts)

How do you rent DVC points? Is it safe to do? I was looking at rooms that have the Florida Resident sale right now and it looks like DVC rooms do get that which make them more affordable. We are spending most of our time in Epcot and Magic Kingdom so being close to the park would be ideal. Also plan on spending a day in the pool so want something nice. This trip is more focused on relaxing at the hotel instead of being at the parks all day so I want something nice. Not really. But I would suspect many families stay at AKL due to the animals and need/request rooms that have two beds, so there may be leftover king rooms there. BWI, YC/BC, CR, and GF all have convention space and therefore would host business travelers, which usually would want king beds. If there is a convention going on during your dates, you may want to avoid those since they could be booked up. OR if there is not a convention going on, you may find they have a higher number of king rooms due to the convention space. It's really luck of the draw though, even if you give yourself the best odds.
Swan/Dolphin is a good option as long as you are ok with the fact you can't use DME, can't book ADRs with the +10 option, and I believe you cannot add a dining plan either. I think there might also be a parking fee. But it's a great location.
Renting points is very affordable, though I'm not sure how it would compare to FL resident rates on deluxe resorts. I also think CSR is a viable option - it's the most "deluxe" of the moderate resorts and would guarantee you a king bed. Unless you wanted to walk to a park, the amenities compared to a deluxe resort are pretty similar.
