We are going to WDW for the first time in January. We have a family of 5, Kids ages are 9, 12, 14. We are doing a big trip from Australia so are on a budget, but don't won't to ruin our experience their at WDW by the accomadation. We have a booking at All-stars Music New Family Suites. But will change if there is a better option. Don't want to be far away from the kids, must have adjioning door if in separte rooms. Whats people suggestion to me??

You might want to try POFQ in the Bayou section - it has 2 doubles plus a trundle - larger rooms than the values (although I haven't seen the new suites at ASMu).

I would recommend Port Orleans Riverside as well. It is cheaper than 2 rooms at a value and you also get a refrigerator. Make sure you ask for alligator bayou section as that is the only section that sleeps 5. It is a little cramped but how much time do you spend in the room anyway?

When we travelled last year, our kids were almost exactly the same age as yours -- 8, 13, 15 and POR worked out great for us. We just loved the beauty of this resort, and felt like we had plenty of room.

Don't change your reservation! As a mother of 3 young children myself (10, 8 and 5) I think you will be cramped at POR. The new All-Star Music suites that you booked will be perfect for your family. And the price is only slightly higher than one room at POR. With kids the ages of yours, you will be thankful that they each can have their own bed, it is so nice to have 2 rooms to spread out in, 2 bathrooms, and 2 tvs. You made a wise choice. Stick with it! :thumbsup2

With Luck's Mom the extra bathroom is needed. Stick to your plan. Also the allstar sports has convenant food court.:cool1:

Caltha: welcome to the DIS!!

I also agree with Lucky's Mom and Scraper. I think you made a great decision with your size family. I would not change it, the All Star Music suites sound perfect for your needs! I also think with you being on a budget that you couldn't do better money wise with 2 connecting rooms at any other resort. Have a great trip! :wave2:

Had to add my 2 cents worth to this chain. I doubt very much that POR would make you a very happy family. The trundle bed is very small and our youngest was 6 when we stayed there and was scared to sleep on it since it just pulled out from under the bed. :scared1: sahe was worried that if she moved wrong it would swallow her up. The room is just your basic hotel room and even though it is our FAV (we are planning on going there alone with a king sized bed for our 25th  ) I thought at the time it was small.

I agree that giving each kid their own bed is a much better idea AND you also get a small kitchen area. We loved the idea so much that we are heading there in December with our family! Looks like we will be able to stretch out and enjoy the extra bathroom in am

Thanks everyone, I am going to stick to the Family suites now, more room and yes 2 Bathrooms. I have just found a picture of the resort, and If I can get a room in the calayso area thats nice and close to the bus stop. But the Jazz Inn looks a bit quieter though, a bit further to walk, too many choices. Will they let you request which area you want??

I usually don't base my room requests on distance to food court etc. I am able and don't mind the walk. But on my last trip I asked to be moved after a few nights because of the noise level from the pool court yard where our room was located. I realized I am a light sleeper and from now on will ask for a parking lot side room, top floor and away from alot of foot traffic. :moped:

From my experiences the CM's at the front desk are very accomodating with room requests at check in. They will do what they can to make you happy! :sunny:

PS: I love Aussies!! :grouphug:
