We are planning to go next Christmas 12/19-12/27 and are looking for advice of which is the best resort to stay at during this time. We like the Poly, but DH wants to try something new. We have 3 small children ages 3, 5, & 6, so we stay in a deluxe. We were thinking of maybe AKL so the kids could enjoy the animals, but I'm wondering if this resort is just too out of the way from everything & w/ the heavy crowds is this a resort best to save for another visit at a slower time of year? Would it be better to stay at a monorail or Epcot resort for the convenience? Right now we are considering either GF, BW, YC, or AKL, but we are welcome to any suggestions. Never been to WDW at Christmas, so not really sure of how to plan.

My two favorite resorts at Christmas are GF and WL. With kids that young, GF will be convenient and the decorations and the gingerbread house will be beautiful. Good luck with whatever you choose. Christmastime at Disney is the best!

Out of the resorts you have listed,I would choose the GF because it's on the monorail. If the kids were older, I'd say BWV because of the proximity to Epcot and MGM. I would definitely go to AK at a less busy time and pay a little extra for the Savannah view.

Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge and Port Orleans French Quarter are all great.

WL - but the regular rooms won't allow 5, same with AKL.

the suites do. and someone says that some of the rooms at AKL does allow 5 that aren't suites?

WL is beautiful at Christmas ! From a fellow Alabamaian, you feel like you're going to step out into a foot of snow; which for us would be amazing !!

We've stayed at both GF and WL for Christmas and both were beautiful. Boardwalk also has great decorations, and is an easy walk to Epcot. My kids are 4 and 7 and they enjoy all the deluxe resorts, although AKL is probably their least favorite (the excitement of the animals wears off quickly).

Hello crazy ears! Another vote for GF! The tree in the lobby is beautiful! Also they have a huge gingerbread house in the lobby too!

I would stay at contemporary. Young kids normally want to spend most of their time in the MK and you have the monorail in the lobby which will make it very easy to get to MK and EPCOT. Plus its going to be very busy so that means the buses and monorails will be pretty backed up so from CR you have a 5. min walk to MK. The rooms were just redone and the views are outstanding. Plus it has very nice christmas decorations.

Your choices are limited of course by family size but you could do a deluxe room or suite at the Wilderness Lodge and I think your family would love it there as many have said. The room would still be a bit cramped but the hotel is so marvelous and holiday atmosphere so spectacular it beats out all! I've stayed there twice and can highly recommend it!

Never stayed at Grand Floridian but the rooms are larger and definitely convenient and having visited there at Christmas I think it would be fine.

My first choice based on room alone would be the Contemporary. We stayed there in early December once and the rooms are huge and the view from the tower (MK side) cannot be beat! Kids love the monorail and the arcade and riding the escalors and food options are I think a bit better for kids. Plus you can walk to the MK.

We are booked at the Contemporary for December '07 and we don't even have any little ones anymore; we just love having the space to spread out, incredible views, convenience of eating at four resorts or EPCOT and we love the Magic Kingdom. Our family is not a big fan of the YC/BC restaurant scene at all but it really is a matter of preference!

We stayed at the GF this past Christmas and I would not hesitate to recommend it for your family. We were located in Sago Cay -- out the back of the GF and to the left -- the location was perfect. The MK by monorail is the best (one stop and you are there!).

The GF lobby does get extremely crowded in the evening and Christmas Eve when Santa arrives, but you can still make your way around the crowds to access the elevator or stairs to reach the monorail.

Go for the GF, you won't be sorry.:thumbsup2
