Which Resort? (20 minutes from entrance to a park)

I talked to the hubby and he wants a resort that is close enough, that when you walk out of your room you are 20 minutes to a park entrance.

Would there be any moderates that would fit this description? Or are the deluxe resorts the ones to be looking at?

I'm figuring the values are out of the question....

Anyhow, Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

It depends - does he mean to a park or to every park?

For example, AKL is about 5 minutes to AK, but some feel it's "too far out."

Coronado Springs might be OK. From the FAQ thread:
Hollywood Studios - Bus Stop 6 (1st bus stop in row at DHS) - 6 min ride once leaving resort
AK - Bus Stop 8 (middle of the row) - 6 min ride once leaving resort
MK - Bus Stop 15 (on the right, a few stops down from the beginning) - 10 min ride once leaving resort
Epcot - Bus Stop 7 (2nd bus stop in row at Epcot) - 7 min ride once leaving resort

The hitch, of course, is how long you wait for the bus.

Do you meant "20 minute walk" to a park from your hotel? or by bus? If you mean by bus, that's probably never gonna happen in any resorts because you usually have to wait for the bus. Some deluxes are a boat ride away from magic kingdom and the Contemporary is a around a 15 minute walk to the MK. Some deluxe resorts near epcot are close to epcot and HS. No moderates or values have boats that go to any parks or are walkable to ANY of the parks.

I'm sorry for not making it clear. It would be whatever means of transportation....walking, bus, monorail, or boat.

Actually, FW is listed as a moderate and there are boats to MK. Granted the cabins are normally higher priced than the other moderates.

Pop is only 5 to7 minutes from DHS by car but longer if you're waiting for a bus.

I think the only realistic resort to walk out of your room and be in a park in 20 minutes is the Beach Club.

Disney is big and spread out and it just takes time to get around no matter what resort you are in.

It is also possible to walk to the MK gate from the CR. FASTER than a speeding bullet...compared to the monorail. Don't count the time getting past the gate to Main St. Wanna race?

We've had the best luck of transportation at the WL. Its bus service everywhere but it seemed like it was in a good location, and didn't share with as many other resorts as some do, that everything was pretty close.

That is so unrealistic, to expect to be at any of the 4 park entrances within 20 minutes from your hotel room. Heck it could take 10 minutes just to get to the resorts transportation area, depending on your room location. Then it could take 10 minutes or longer waiting for transportation (Bus, boat or rail). If you stay at an EPCOT location then you are super close to EPCOT and DHS, but the buses to MK and AK are not that great since they usually stop at multiple resorts. Your best bet is staying at an EPCOT or MK deluxe resort.

At Both POR and CSR we generally got from room to park between 15 and 30 mins.

There have been occasions (2 out of 13 days on our last trip) when we went over the 30 mins mark.

It all depends a) how fast you walk/how close your room is to the bus depot - basically how long it takes you to get from room to bus depot b) when the bus pulls up.

If you get there just as the bus for your park is pulling away, it MIGHT be 10 even 20 mins before another is there, although thats not usually been our experience. Sometimes the bus you want pulls away just as another bus you want is pulling up :)

Honestly, the bus system is pretty darn good, just pick whichever moderate appeals to you the most and don't worry about the transit, you will get where you want :)

Boardwalk and Beach Club are both walking distance from EPCOT and Disney Studios.... Coronado Springs close to AK and Epcot but I would not walk.. Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness cabins are a short boat ride maybe 10mins from the Magic Kingdom as is the main 3 Poly, GF and Contemp... You can walk to the MK from the Contemp,

IMHO, the only resorts that would be 20 minutes or less from resort entrance to park entrance are:

Beach Club, Yacht Club and BWI - Less than 20 minute door-to-door walking to Epcot.

Contemporary - Less than 20 minutes door-to-door walking to MK.

The reason why none of the other options are guaranteed 20 minutes is because you don't know how long you would have to wait for the bus, the boat or the monorail. While it *can* take 5 minutes from AKL to AK, you may wait 20 minutes for that bus. Same with the monorail from GF/Poly to MK. While it *can* take minutes to get to MK, you may wait 20 minutes for the monorail. Same with the boats from BC/YC/BWI to DHS - you can easily wait 15-20 minutes for the boat. And same issues with any of the buses to the parks. CSR is near Epcot but once you take bus wait times into consideration, it *can" take longer than 20 minutes. Also, there is no resort that will put you less than 20 minutes from *all* parks, even with the best case scenario. Here are the distances:

I would forget the 20 minute time restriction you have and choose a resort that is within your budget, and that has the theme you like. Unless you stay at the CR and walk to the MK, or the BC, BWI or YC and walk to Epcot, your time frame is a bust, and you are set up to fail.
Honestly, the transportation is pretty good, and if you allow 45 minutes you are generally okay. It really is not that bad at all.
