Which Residence Inn?

We have stayed in the one in Garden Grove but thinking of staying at the Maingate, the one closer to DL. To those of you that have stayed at both, which one would you prefer? I know that the GG is newer but Maingate is "newly" renovated. Is there much difference between the two hotels?

Can not compare each but have stayed and maingate and the only other place we will stay is GC on property.

We stayed at GG and absolutely loved it. My friends stayed at maingate and still drove to the park so what's the point? I've heard maingate is a little noisier. Also, the 2 bedroom has an open loft (at least from the pics) and I liked the idea of shutting a door. At Garden Grove, the kids had a glass door with curtain and the room had a bunkbed and bathroom inside room. The other room had 2 queens with a wooden door that shut with a bathroom inside the room. So actually three seperate closed rooms (with 3 tvs). Sorry I can't give an actual opinion on maingate, but it sounds really nice too. The other difference is the maingate sounds more like townhomes with outside entry to each one, while the GG has an alevator with inside corridors.

Why would anyone drive from MG I would have no clue unless they are disabled.Parking fee's may be an issue if you drive. MG is townhouse ish and the upper room is a loft. There was no exterior noise other than what you would get anywhere you would stay, definately not the freeway. The only door that you do not have is to the loft with a King bed, very nice vanity area, separate bath and shower.

Too each their own as far as what is important, we need space, full kitchen, grocery shopping, King bed, and the hot breakfast.

The Maingate Residence Inn in Anaheim is at least a 1/2 mile walk to the main entrance to Disneyland. That may be the main reason people drive and park at the garage and take the shuttle right to the entrance!!

Me, I would stay right across the street at Carousel Inn.

It is just undet 1/2 mile. have walked it numerous times. Sorry, We walk m osr of the time, take art when we need to. We used a pedometer to see what we did and it averaged 12-15 miles in a day. We do not find walking a chore.

Ya think maybe people dont want to walk that far carrying a sleeping toddler, a tired 5 year old or a disabled 12 year old???

Everyone has their own abilities. It is our place not to judge how far people should be able to walk, it is to give information. Of course I can walk a 1/2 mile, I have to just get to a paved road. I walk probably 5 miles a day every day at work as a teacher.

Information helps people plan their trips. Thanks for encouraging people to walk. I on the other hand, will stay close to the entrance, I'm on vacation!!!

I am not argueing with you. Just tried to point out that it is not far to DLR. I do not have kids that are the age of yours or with your restictions. Too me you made it sound like people need to drive, far as I am concerned anyone can get there anyway they wish, it is not a chore for us to walk the distance. Take ART, it is cheap and easy to ride. I would love to stay across from the park but I am until to find a place that offers the features of RI maingate. Peace

That in it self made it sound like you are a wimp if you don't walk the extra 1/2 mile! Sorry I'm not argueing, just pointing out that even us folks in shape don't choose to walk that extra mile!!!

Enjoy your stays at the Residence Inn. I'm glad you have found a home near Disneyland. We enjoy our time at the Carousel Inn just fine! Plus we are lucky, we have cousins that live down the road about 20 minutes with 2 extra bedrooms!!!
