Which property to choose?

We are seriously considering going back this October (a little late in deciding). We have stayed in a 2 bedroom condo at Windsor hills on 2 previous occassions and also have several on-site stays. We prefer off-site.

Give me some suggestions for other offsite properties. We are a family of 4 (DD 12, DS 10). Who do you book through? How did you find your favorite property?

We are going in Oct also and ended up with Silver Lake Resort, which is literally across the highway from AK. Never stayed there so I can recommend it yet, but it looks nice enough and relaxing. The biggest gripe I have seen is their internet is slow and you have to pay for it but my work provides with me a mobile hot spot so that won't affect me.

Almost booked at Orange Lake Resort which is in the same area and looks nice but in the end decided it was too big and too "corporate" for what we are looking for.

Stayed at a few others over the years but nothing I would recommend.

We like Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista 8200 Palm parkway. You can get a one bedroom suite with living room and kitchen and free hot breakfast for around $71 a night. It is in a good area and surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants.

You can get a 2 bedroom at Bonnet Creek for around $100 a night with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. The resort has 5 pools, 2 pool slides, 2 lazy rivers, ping pong, pool tables, game rooms, free putt putt golf and daily activities for the kids all around the resort.

I think your kids would love Bonnet Creek and probably never want to stay anywhere else again after staying there.

Just don't try to book directly through Bonnet Creek or you will pay about $300 a night. You need to rent a reservation through a broker or owner. There are a few brokers like Vacation strategies that can look into rates and availability. You can find a lot more info on renting at Bonnet Creek on the TUG timeshare message boards under the Wyndham thread.

We actually prefer off site as well but did stay on site twice with the kids because they had more to do in the evenings at ASMu. But next time we take them back will be to Bonnet Creek.

We are going down in December and used Home Away to book a house. We have other family members coming down this trip and looked into a few options.

Our last trip, we stayed at Bonnet Creek and were considering them again this time but decided we wanted a house.

I highly recommend Bonnet Creek. You can rent through Vacation Strategies or Ken Price.

If you are looking into a timeshare (there are many in the area), you can look on redweek.com for rentals.

We love the Marriott Vacation Clubs and I always find my owners on redweek.com. We have stayed at Marriott Grande Vista, Marriott Cypress Harbour and Marriott Sabal Palms. Didn't love Cypress Harbour but the other two were great.

We're at Windsor Hills right now and pass by Silver Lake everyday on our way to the parks. It's definitely one of the closest in this area.

One of the things we really like about our Windsor Hills townhouse is that we can park right outside our front door. We have our own little driveway that's literally steps from the door. I remember our stay at Pop a few years ago when we had to trek to and from our car or to the bus stop. I also like that everyone has their own space. Today is our break day. We have no particular plans expect to pick up my sister from the airport this evening. Right now, our teenaged boys are lying in their beds playing with their phones and watching TV. DH is still upstairs. Last I saw he was on his iPad. I came downstairs to have breakfast and use my laptop. It's nice and quiet down here. So much nicer than being stuck in a small hotel room where everyone is practically on top of each other!
