Let's say you own pts @ two resorts(100VWL and 100VBR) and you originally make a reservation @ VWL within the 11 month window. Can you call MS at the 7 month window and switch the res. to use the VBR points thereby freeing up your vwl pts. for more 11 month reservations going forward.

You would actually need to cancel and rebook, which is no problem if there is availability.

As the previous poster said, if there is availability for a new reservation no problem. If DVC simply re-allocated the points, it would unfairly defeat the purpose of the 11 month booking window.

Thus you technically make a new reservation with your 7 monh points, and cancel your 11 month reservation. But, if your are traveling at a popular time for DVC (and there seem to be fewer and fewer "unpopular times"), there may not be availability for that new reservation.

I've had problems with booking a home resort using points from a second home resort if I still have points available in the first home resort.

For example, if I called at 7 mos and made a VWL ressie using my BWV points, it would go through. But the next day, a transaction would show up changing the reservation from my BWV points to my VWL points. This doesn't occur if I don't have any VWL points available.

This is some "feature" of the DVC reservation system. I've since learned that in order to defeat this "feature", I have to make a dummie ressie with my VWL points, book VWL using BWV, and then cancel the dummy VWL ressie two days later.
