I was reading a Twitter thread the other day about the pipe bomber from Jan 6th. They are still looking for the person. One user suggested that the bomber is female because they tucked their cell phone in their back pocket. They argued that only women usually use their back pockets for phones. That made me stop and go “hmmm”. I usually put my phone in my back pocket unless I have a coat on and then it goes into my coat pocket. What about you? What pocket in your pants do you usually use for your phone?

Front right for me typically. I might keep it in my jacket if I am wearing one though.

Front right for me and I'm a woman. Sometimes I forget that my jeans even have back pockets.

Male - it depends. If I'm at work and have a dress shirt on, I'll keep it in my shirt pocket. Otherwise, I put it in my back pocket (unless I have a coat on and then it's in there).

Wondering, which way should your phone face when it is in your pocket? Screen towards your body - or facing away from your body? Or, does it matter?

I'd usually keep it in a jacket pocket or my purse, but if I don't have those then it would be a back pocket. Front pockets aren't usually big enough and I definitely couldn't sit with it in a front pocket.

It’s more difficult for women to put them in pockets because our pockets are so small. Between the risk of it falling out, or being damaged when sitting, I have never put a cell phone in a front or back pocket. I have occasionally put a phone in the lower leg pocket of cargo pants (near the knee), if the pocket is large enough and fastens securely. Otherwise, it’s in my handbag.

Female and I usually have my in my back pocket, it's there now!
If I have a vest or jacket on it might end up in one of those pockets.
At home it's on the counter and I don't carry it around.

I've never put my cell phone in my pocket. Could explain why I have never had a broken screen from sitting on the phone. Of course, the first cell phone I had was a bag phone, so no putting it in a pocket. They were called car phones then. Loved that phone, had it 14 years.
Had to get rid of it because if was analog, and switched to a handheld digital phone and have always had a holster case for my phone. Got my current one at Ace Hardware. Has a pocket for the phone, and a pocket where I keep my hand sanitizer.

For Me it depends on where I’m at, and what I’m wearing.

Crowds - front pocket always

Less crowded - back right pocket if I’m wearing something long enough to cover it.

No crowds - back right regardless what I’m wearing.

I almost always have a casual button-down shirt on with a front left shirt pocket. That's where mine goes almost always. If just in a t-shirt or somehow no shirt pocket, most often front left pants pocket. NEVER in back pocket.

As to earlier question from @lucas, screen facing in to body.

Would have liked to be able to vote more than once on this one. 😆

most of the time - outer pocket of my purse
if no purse (like just out in the yard) it totally depends on my clothes:
first choice - left jacket pocket
if not coat weather, then left jeans pocket
unless I have certain pants on that have a perfect cell phone pocket on the leg
or one particular pair of flared jeans that has "back pockets" on the front

At any rate, the screen faces "in" whether purse or pocket.
