Which plan(s) include signature meals & dinner shows without having to trade in 2 credits?

I'm specifically asking about 2011 DDP.

Thanks! :)

Both the Regular Plan and the Deluxe Plan including signature meals - you just need to use 2 TS credits (regular) or 2 credits (Deluxe).

The trick is that you only get 1 TS per day for the regular plan, so using two for one meal means that you cannot have a TS meal everyday (without paying OOP).

I understand the trading in 2 TS credits for 1 sig. or dinner show for the regular dining plan, but I don't understand the Deluxe Plan.

With the Deluxe Plan, you said you still need to trade in 2 credits.....do you mean 2 TS credits, just like the regular DDP?

Yes, signature would be 2 TS credits no matter which dining plan you use.

Thank you....I'm so confused now. What is the difference between the regular DDP & the Deluxe DDP??:confused3

Is it just the addition of the appetizer and the refillable mug??

Yes, with the deluxe plan you still trade in 2 credits. You get 3 credits per night that can be used at either TS or CS. With the regular plan you get 1 CS and 1 TS.

Regular DP: 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack
Deluxe DP: 3 credits (TS or CS) 2 snacks & the mug.

Plus with the deluxe you get an app, entree and dessert vs just entree and dessert.

The credits on the deluxe plan are just credits. You get 3 a day and they can be used for all CS meals, all TS meals, or a combination of both. In addition, as you mention, you get an appetizer, the mug, and two snacks.

On the regular DDP, you get 1 CS credit, and 1 TS credit, and 1 snack per day.

With the DxDDP, you can go to a signature restaurant every day and still have 1 credit left over to use for another TS meal or CS meal.

With the regular plan, if you go to a signature meal, you are going to have a day when you won't have enough credit to cover two meals.

Thank you!!

So, with the deluxe could you essentially do 2 TS meals every day, since you can use them any way you want? Or are you allotted a certain # of TS meals for your entire trip?

Based on what I have read...(I only have experience with the regular DDP)

Regular DDP - 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack per day (meal = drink, entree & dessert)

Deluxe DDP - 3 meals, TS or CS, and 2 snacks a day(meal = drink, appetizer, entree & dessert)

With both of these plans signature restaurants require 2 TS credits.

There is also the Premium and Platinum Plans, and those packages are also 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, however, signature restaurants do not require the use of 2 credits. The Premium and Platinum Plans also come with several other perks that include tours, La Nouba tickets, preferred fireworks seating, etc.

Hope this helps.

With the Deluxe, you can do THREE table service meals a day if you want...you just book 1 TS places for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For example, on the Deluxe, we have booked Kona Cafe for breakfast, The Plaza for lunch and The Wave for dinner (all table service restaurants.) Then you also get 2 snacks that day...obviously it's a LOT of food. We rarely spent any snack credits...used them up at the end by buying yummy pastries to take home with us (driving)

Or on deluxe, you can use your snacks to get a couple of breakfast items (like a yogurt for one snack, a cinnamon roll for another credit) and use your refillable mug at resort to get coffee (mug comes with the plan) Then we'd have a table service lunch for 1 credit (like at Coral Reef in Epcot) and a "signature" dinner at Yachtsmen's Steakhouse using 2 TS credits.

Of if you decide you just want counter service places all day, you can do that, too...resort counter service breakfast platter for 1 credit, then Cosmic Rays in Magic Kingdom for lunch, and then Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom for dinner. You'd lose money doing that, though, because it'd be cheaper to pay cash for 3 counter service a day (current deluxe price is about $73 a day...my guess is you'd find yourself spending much less than $73 a day if you ate all counter service...think our average counter service meal is more like $15 per adult, so for about $45 we'd eat 3 counter service a day.)

We like the flexibility of the Deluxe plan, but you do have to time your meals right...figure 5-6 hours between meals (the meals are BIG at Disney, especially if you're getting appetizer, entree, drink & dessert for lunch & dinner every day.)

Credits for deluxe are not allocated according to so many table service/so many counter service...they are flex meal credits you can use at either place. And they are not credited per days on your vacation: On the Deluxe each person on the plan gets 3 meal credits per NIGHT on your package. So if you book the package to stay at a Disney hotel for 7 nights/8 days, each person would be allotted 21 meal credits (3 X 7 nites). You can use all 21 credits at table service, or all 21 at counter service...or any combination you want. You can even use more than 3 credits a day if you want...like Crystal Palace buffet table service for breakfast (1 credit), Cosmic Rays counter service for lunch (1 credit) and then use 2 credits for dinner in the Castle all in the same day. Of course you'll run out of credits before you run out of vacation if you use 4 a day...

So, with deluxe, we could essentially have:

-Snacks for breakfast
-CS or TS for lunch

& take the meal credit we could have used for breakfast & pair it with the dinner TS to trade in for a dinner show?

Also, what is the price difference between the regular DDP & the Deluxe?

Yes, that's correct. I don't know if there are limitations on which dinner show you can go to on the deluxe plan, for regular DDP there are limits as to what time the show is that you can attend, or where you can sit.

But basically you can use up all your credits in any combination / location you want until they are gone.

I think the regular DDP was $41.99 in 2010 (sorry I have not been following the threads on the new 2011 pricing) and as posted above the deluxe is now $73 which I think is a 2011 price - but I think it's about a $30 difference per day between regular and deluxe.

The 2011 adult prices are $45.99 for basic DDP ($47.99 "peak" season) and $78.99 for DxDP (no peak season surcharge).

On Deluxe, you get 3 "meal credits" per person per night, which you can use as TS or CS credits, plus 2 snack credits per person per night, and one resort refillable mug per person. Basic DDP has 1 TS credit, 1 CS credit, and 1 snack per person per night, no mug.

As noted, dinner shows and signature restaurants require 2 credits. At a "menu service" TS location, DxDP also allows an appetizer, which basic DDP does not (unless you order off of the fixed price menu at certain locations).

The Platinum and Premium plans, which are not actually dining plans but "all inclusive" resort packages that include a dining component look much like DxDP, except that all meals are 1 credit and additonal restuarants are added that do not participate in the Basic or Deluxe dining plans. Platinum and Premium also offer unlimited golf, tennis, horse riding, water sports, fishing, tours, etc.

If i booked the regular DDP on a package/promo can i upgrade to the Deluxe Plan?

Typically, yes, for the price difference between the plans. I hedge only because you never know when Disney is going to start arbitrarily changing the way they do things. ;)

I just booked mine and the upcharge is the difference between the free one (QDSP or DDP) and what you want.
