Which place would you take home with you?

I know there are some special food experiences that taste great there but that you wouldn't eat at home. (example: I love School Bread, but wouldn't eat it often enough to want the bakery here.)

But what places would you have move into your town? What are the places you could eat at frequently---daily, weekly? Sit down and counter service?

For me, I would be very happy and content with an "Earl of Sandwich" nearby. I think I could eat there a couple times a week and not get tired of it.

Thoughts?

I would love a WPE here by us. That would be heaven.

I also like WCC, it is DH's favorite. Their menu and food is so good. The antics are pretty fun too. Would be nice to have that choice outside of WDW.

I would like a place like Ohana near us. I mean we have the Japanese Hibachi which is something a bit different but it would be nice to have an Ohana type place where they keep coming at you with the great appetizers, shrimp, meats w/dipping sauces, and the great bread pudding at the end. I would definitely forfeit one of my hibachi dinners for a place like Ohana.

Definitely Earl of Sandwich! We don't have anything like that near us and when we are at WDW, that is usually our place to have lunch after arriving on the first day and we try to eat there at least once again during the rest of the trip. MMMM..thinking about it now..:cloud9:

Earl of Sandwich, definitely. My sister & I have talked numerous times about how great it would be to have one in NY.

Either WPE or Raglan Road (although we have a Celtic pub around where we live, but not really the same thing).

Earl of Sandwich definately
Wolfgang Puck Express
LeCellier
Main St. Bakery

Didn't understand the title of this thread so I "clicked" on it. Reading "school bread, WPE and WCC" make me more confused than ever. Not fun being new!

VIctoria & Alberts. We have no 5 stars here locally; we usually fly to Las Vegas for that.

Do you have a Brazilian steak house near you? They're similar...ours had a really nice salad bar with all sorts of high end items and then the waiters walked around with skewers of meat and roasted pineapple....

I'd take one of the better breakfast buffets (CP, Chef Mickey's) - our area is severely lacking for good breakfast restaurants.

All the family tries to do a breakfast buffet once a month.
Sister & Brother and their families, daughter and her family, and many friends, its quite a production.
Boma or Crystal Palace would be wonderful.

It gets easier!! I promise!

Welcome to the boards. It really is a great place to get information and to ask questions. Don't hesitate to ask for clarification if you need it. There are lots of instances of shorthand that confuse me. I was just trying to figure out renting DVC points today---crazy.

As for the things you mentioned:

School Bread is a large, bread-y sweet roll that's lightly spiced, filled with custard and topped with icing and coconut. It's only available at the Norwegian Bakery in Epcot.

WPE is Wolfgang Puck Express. It's a quick service restaurant in Downtown Disney, known for big portions and really great food.

WCC is Whispering Canyon Cafe. It's a sit down restaurant at the Wilderness Lodge Hotel. The food is very American Classic, but it's really known for silly antics of the waitstaff and a very loud and fun dinner.

Thanks very much for mentioning this!!! A new place near us came in around 2 years ago by the name of Rio Brazilian Steakhouse but i have never been, just saw the outside of this place many times. I just looked under the website and sure enough it is what you said plus a 30 item salad bar on top of it but no mention of shrimp but sounds good anyway. Now i have to try it. Had i known i would have a long long time ago.

For CS, I would love Tangierine Cafe. We have some good Greek and Middle Eastern food in Brooklyn, but not exactly like this, plus they are sit-down places. I think it would be a nice addition.

For TS, Biergarten. There used to be an excellent German restaurant in Queens that was there forever but it closed. There is a good one in Brooklyn but it would be nice to have the Biergarten buffet and the entertainment at dinner. It would also do very well here.

I don't have much experience yet with WDW restaurants, but from our last trip these are the ones that stand out. We did lots of character meals last time for the kids.

OK, I have to agree with this one. We have really great NY diners here, with excellent breakfast, but no local place that serves a really good breakfast buffet. The occasional Sunday brunch buffet, yes, but not near where we live. We have to either go into Manhattan or out to Long Island to get that. So, a Chef Mickey's or CP type place for breakfast buffets would be great!!
