We took our 5 year old last year to the magic kingdom. She has been begging to go back. We are heading on a cruise late Aug, but decided to make a pit stop in disney before leaving. The questions is magic kingdom and which other park or skip magic kingdom and hit two other parks. We are setting aside only two days (Sat and Sun) before we have to drive to FT Lauderdale..cruise leaves Monday. Barely remember the others parks since it has been so long since I been to them (12 years). Any and all opinions will be very helpful.

Thanks

If your daughter likes animals then go to AK. The Lion King show would be good for a 5 year old as would Safari. There are obviously many animals to see and my children have always enjoyed it. However, that said, my kids LOVE Epcot and have since they were about 5. If we were to choose between the two it would be Epcot. My kids could happily skip MGM -- which we have done on some of our trips. Magic Kingdom is ALWAYS a must.

My kids, aged 11 & 7, seem to love Epcot the most aswell :confused3 - this is the one park I thought they wouldn't enjoy so much!

I agree with 5onadime - if she likes animals AK is a must. The Nemo show was great there too and there are some bigger rides for the adults - Expedition Everest is a must :thumbsup2

Welcome! I'd would do MK again! She's the perfect age for MK!
If see likes animals go to AK if not go to MGM. That park has lot of attractions from the disney channel and younger kids enjoy!

Just got back from WDW with my 6 year old and 3 year old.

By far they loved MK the best, and at the bottom of the list was MGM.

If your 5 year old is over 40", she can enjoy the "bigger" rides at the parks, including Soaring & Test Track @ Epcot.

Hope this helps.

I would go with MK and Epcot.

Wow! That's a tough choice. We LOVE all the parks. Howevever, given the age of your child, I'd recommend AK as well for a couple of reasons. First, it's easy to do quite a bit there in one day of touring. You will feel like you've gotten the most bang for your buck there. It's fairly compact. There are some really neat things there for kids around 5. My girls will be 5 & 8 this fall on our next trip. They love all the parks. But, it we had to SKIP a park, we'd most likely skip MGM. We'd do MK & AK for sure.

I'd go to the MK for sure. And, spend the 2nd day at AK.

MK is still the best park IMO, but I agree with the others that say either AK or Epcot. or if she or you and your family like MK the most do two days of MK if thats what she wants. when we went to AK last year my then 4 year old son was scared during its tough to be a bug, but I think that it was just because we were close to the grasshopper that pops up. at MGM he was scared of the great movie ride when the alien comes down. actually that scared him for almost the rest of the trip. we had to almost beg him to go on things, even his #1 choice of ride POTC. Once he got on he was fine and it was something he was familiar with so that helped.

I agree with going to the MK and then the AK, lots of animals and some great rides as well. It,s Tough To Be A Bug can be a little scary for the younger kids.:scared1: The Safari ride is great, sit next to the outside and bring your camera. Most of all enjoy the time you have.:woohoo:

mk and mgm

MK Speaks for itself and, MGM for playhouse disney, etc....

I think MGM is ranking so low because of your daughter's age. A lot of it is aimed at an older crowd. My son is a teenager and absolutely loves MGM and would take that over AK any day, however at 5 yo it would have been an entirely different story.

Whatever you choose, have fun!!!!!

I'd would go to the Disney website for MGM or www.allearsnet.com and research the attractions for AK and MGM. I think MGM has alot of things for the younger kids. My kids are 8+ so they don't really get into the Bear in the Big Blue House/Playhouse Disney/etc that MGM has so we personally prefer AK. However, for the younger kids, I think MGM has alot to offer!

Plus you can't beat the big two attractions for the older kids (ie: adults) TOT and RnR!

MGM is okay, it doesn't have too many rides for the smaller kids and some of the rides or shows take up 1 hr. to get seated and watch. That's ok if you are not sitting in the sun, heat and can leave when you want. Lights ,Camera, Action, you are stuck until the end. One of the best things is Fantasmic at the end of the day. We usually cover MGM in about half a day, then go to EPCOT or AK for the rest of the time.

MK and AK seems to be the top two. what makes mgm so low on the list????

I agree that it's because of her age. She's probably a little bit beyond stuff like Playhouse Disney, but she's not old enough to do Rock n Roller and at the age where Tower of Terror might be too scary.
There are a lot of things she'd probably enjoy at MGM (Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Indiana Jones, Star Tours), just not as much as some of the other parks.

I definitely wouldn't skip MK. It's by far the best park for a 5 yr old.
But it's a tough call between AK and Epcot. They both have a lot to offer a 5 yr old. If she's really into animals, I'd say AK. Otherwise, I'd proably give the edge to Epcot. She should be able to do Soarin, Test Track, Mission:Space (the green side), and a bunch of other stuff.
