Hi

We'll be in the world for the 4th this year and I made dinner reservations at MGM. We've never seen Sorcery in the Sky - but what is different at the MK that day and should we brave the probably bigger crowds to spend the day there?

Thanks?

We have had a tradition now for many years to go to the Magic Kingdom on the 4th. We get there early and stay all day. We always had Crystal Palace Lunch and Tonys Dinner. We just take it slow. The park is very busy, but in a festive way. The Fireworks are very nice, but if you wait too long to find a premium spot, you end up shuffled off to the remote areas of the park. I do recommend it, but get one of the premium fireworks spots very early and check with CM's to make sure they don't turn the spot you are in into a walkway and make you move, it never happened to us, but saw it happen to others alot.

We are going to also be there for the 4th. You say you go every year what time do you usually get to MK. Is it true that after a couple of hours they close the park to the public. We also have our own car so we dont have to wait for the shuttle.

I have heard that is true, that they close the parking lot around 11am. Then only those people that can get to the gates are allowed in. We usually get there at 9am, We have found that time to be the best for parking, if you stay in the left lane, it is usually when they have just opened up Minnie and you can walk over to the TTC (We just do not like the trams). If you don't have reservations for the restaurants, it is probably too late for advance Priority Seatings, however they have alot availalble early (Very early) for all the restaurants, just go to them as check.

Personally, I would never go to MK on the 4th, especially if you are traveling with children. We were there a couple of years ago on the evening of the 4th and the crowds were unbelievable. If you are traveling alone or with another adult and are very, very brave it might be okay, but otherwise I don't think it is not worth the trouble. Crowds were literally shoulder to shoulder. In Fantasyland everyone was at a standstill just like a big traffic jam. Imagine trying to push a strolller thru that and tolerate a very tired and restless 3yo. along with dragging the rest of the family behind. I hope to visit at another time of year next time.
