Should we stay at the MCO Hyatt and then try to catch a DCL bus to Port Canaveral? Or should we get a one-way rental from MCO to Port Canaveral, and stay at the Radisson, then take the Radisson shuttle to the Port?

Our biggest thing is that we want to get to the port as early as possible, so we're thinking the Radisson is the way to go, unless we can pretty much be guaranteed that taking a DCL bus will get us there at port opening.

Will we get killed on a one-way car rental price from MCO to Port Canaveral??

I would do the Radisson... our last 2 disney cruises we took the first Radisson shuttle and we were first in line to board the Magic both times.

Just back today from the 5/1 Magic ....

We flew to MCO and stayed at the Sheraton Suites (got a good rate from hotwire). The Sheraton had a shuttle to pick us up from the airport.

We arranged to have our own transfer pick us up on Saturday morning at 9 and take us to the port (hiring our own transfer ended up being cheaper than the DCL transfer and we could ensure being picked up when we wanted). The transfer picked us up at the port today and took us to MCO. Very smooth and easy.

We had played with the idea of the Raddison but ended up having trouble getting the rooms we needed (and i had read someone's trip report and they said they ended up getting to the port later than many others because there were so many people needing the Raddison shuttle). I will say that while we waited for our transfer to arrive today, there was basically a constant line of Raddison shuttles there to pick up guests.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

We rented a car - much less stress to rely on our own timetable instead of waiting for a shuttle. Our friends stayed at the Radisson and said that the wait for the shuttle was crazy -- they had rented a car also. We were first on line to board the ship.

Did you park the car @ the port or did you do a one-way rental? If a one-way, how did you work the logistics of dropping off the car & getting to the port???

On our cruise last July, we got into MCO about 9pm so we stayed at the Hyatt and used the Disney transfers in the morning. We were on one of the first buses and at the port by 10:45. Worked great and I would definitely do it again.
