Which one would you choose?

Both EMH hours on same day- your choice of park is:

  • Animal Kingdom for EMH morning hours

  • MGM for EMH evening hours

  • Both - I have a park hopper

If there were EMH morning hours at Animal Kingdom and EMH evening hours at MGM on the same day and you did not have hopper options on your park tickets - which park would you choose?

We personally always choose evening EMH. For one, we're not morning people...we like to sleep in. And two, three hours always beats out one hour IMO. :)

ETA: Just noticed the poll. I DO have a park hopper, I just don't utilize morning EMH.

Actually I'd do morning at AK, get EE and KS out of the way that first hour, do Dino, Bug and Kali while everyone else was running to EE and KS, and take the afternoon to see the shows while the hordes were in lines. Unless you're skipping fantasmic, then I'd do the night at MGM and ride while everyone was watching that.

Even I were a bit tired, I would make sure that I was a Animal Kingdom early. That park is so hot, and requires so much walking, that I would like to be done with it by noon. Then I would sleep for a few hours, and do another park that night.

Even though we have the ability to park hop, we would do the EMH evening hours at MGM since we are far from morning people and usually don't get used to the time change until our last day of our trip.

I don't think we have gone to an EMH morning hours ever.

In a rare move here (for me anyway), I'd take MGM. AK has the fewest hours of any of the parks, and MGM can be tough to fit everything in because showtimes are limited. So "value per hour" would be higher with the MGM option :)

Generally speaking, the morning EMH is a much better benefit than the evening EMH to my family. We're early risers, so we're up anyway. And there are much lower crowds at the morning EMH than the late one (which is probably why it's 1 hour vs. 3 hours!). So my normal answer would have been "take the morning park". But... since AK has short hours, if you didn't have a park hopper, I'd advise you to do AK on a day when they have evening EMH, which gets you 9-9 instead of 8-6 (back to that value formula!).

Honestly, I can't speak highly enough of park hopping. So my real answer above was both, I have a hopper. But since you said "if you didn't have a hopper", I gave you the answer above.

I did not vote - it would depend what time of year not sure when OP might be going. I have not done EMH as we are local, and rarely stay at the resorts...

In the summer for SURE AK for morning EMH. I HATE AK in the summer it is just way too hot and I feel more congested. It's can be hot at other times of the year too but far worse in the summer.

If it were during the holidays - mid Nov to early January - I woul definitely do MGM in the evening with the Osbourne lights, etc.

Just my opinion.....

I'm a morning EMH type person. I'm the "if you're not ready I'm leaving without you" kinda person (yes, the family just LOVES it...and I have left without some family members).

That said, I will NEVER do morning EMH at AK again. Granted, last time I did it, EE wasn't built yet. But you'd be surprised how little is open during the morning EMH at AK. We found ourselves doing attractions we didn't care for just to kill time until the "good" rides were open. So, check out the list of rides that are open and make sure it is worth it for you to get there early.

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far. I will be there in September and wanted to know which would be the better option. For morning EMH hours at Animal Kingdom it shows to have Dinosaur, EE, It's Tough to Be a Bug, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and the Pangani Forest trail open. I wondered if it would be the best choice to go to that park on that day as the earlier you can go on the Safari the better chance of seeing more animals you might have. Also, one extra hours of 'cooler' weather to spend in the park before it becomes a hot and humid mess.

Oh Wow!!! Things have definitely changed, then. When we were there for the Early morning EMH in Jan 2005, only It's Tough to be a Bug and the Forest trails were open. They wouldn't even let anyone in Dinoland to go stand in line for Dinosaur. And the safari wasn't open (and EE wasn't built yet). So, we were "forced" to do ITTBAB and just walk around until the park was open at 9am.

Glad to hear they changed things...hmmmm...I guess we won't be sleeping in on our AK day now...heehee...the family will LOVE to hear that. :yay:

Your post and your poll say two different things!

We have park hoppers (actually AP's) so we could do both, but I responded to the poll with the sentance that you do not have park hoppers in mind!

EMH evenings are preferable to us because it gives us more time in the park at night (3 hours vs 1 hour). The mornings are usually more productive and the evenings are more crowded, but we enjoy being there in the evenings even with a crowd.

Have a great time! :cheer2:

Since I'm a early person I would say I would stay late at MGM and sleep late the next day and then go to the spa the next day and relax!

My family would go to MGM, because of our young kids. They love going to Playhouse Disney and seeing all the characters.

I too would choose MGM. the shows for kids and also fantasmic. it's the best :joker:

Oops! True. I posted first and then when I made the poll I thought about all the people with park hoppers and wondered if they would do both EMH's in the seame day if they could.
