I am having a bit of a problem choosing where to stay for our next trip. We will be doing 10 days in late January 2006. I am thinking deluxe with our two kids who will be 4 and 2. A friend of ours is coming as well. We are going to split our stay with the last 4 at AKL.

I am waffling between WL, cheaper but smaller and after 10days- would we hate each other?

Contemorary- closer to MK, less hassle with buses and slow boats but if we stay, do I save money and stay garden or do I pay more for tower

Poly- never been here heard good things. Like the fact that we can walk to TTC.

Please vote on my pole. If you vote other, please tell me why.

I eliminated WL because it is similarly themed to AKL (same designer, lodge theme, etc), plus no monorail access. If most of the time will be spent at MK, I'd do CR (walking distance). If some time will be spent at Epcot and others, Poly is more direct on the monorail (walk to TTC) and closer to the other parks than CR.

We have stayed at all 3 of your choices and enjoyed them all for different reasons. They are hard to compare because they are so vastly different.

The Poly is laid back... we love the beaches with the hammocks (I spent the better portion of a morning lying on one of the hammocks reading a book.) We love the both of the restaurants, the Tambu Lounge and the fountain inside on the lower level. The convenience to the TTC is great, as well.

The Contemporary is high energy. We loved the size of the rooms and the bathrooms. We also loved that it is "Mickey's Resort" with all kinds of touches of Mickey in the statues, etc. The CM's that are at the Outer Rim bar are great, and we really liked the coffee bar!

The Wilderness Lodge is beautifully themed (especially around Christmas, which is when we stayed there), and the pool is outstanding. We loved the hot tubs at the poolside, too. We weren't too crazy about the restaurants, though. And the rooms were too small and dark. My husband was constantly hitting his shins on the bedposts. The rooms are no bigger than those at the CBR, but due to the dark interior felt even smaller, like being in a cave. The transporation was an issue here, as well.

I don't think you will be disappointed with any of them. It really depends on your mood and personality and what theming you are looking for in your vacation. Being that you are going in January, would you rather be reminded that it is winter (the WL will do that), or think of warmer climates (the Polynesian) or something in between (the Contemporary).

I voted before I saw your comments as I would have chosen AKL, but I now see that you already have part of your stay scheduled there. I think, then that I would go with the Poly. A monorail resort is convenient, and that then gives you 2 from your list. I just think that the laid back atmosphere that the Poly projects would be great.

That's just my opinion as I have olny seen the CR from Chef Mickey's and the Poly from the luau. The Contemporary just seemed too busy and the Poly seemed sooo laid back.

I would say Poly out of the choices you gave. The theme, close proximity to MK and monorail access and it is a beautiful resort we hope to stay at. :)

I think CR would be a good place to split with AKL. You will have very different experiences. CR has big rooms, and the tower rooms sound great. We can only afford the garden wing and are pleased with all the positive reviews they have. You can walk to MK from CR and the monorail is a big plus.

I have never been to the Poly and hear very positive and very negative reviews, though most people love it. I'm going to pop over there during our CR stay to see for myself. We went to WL for dinner on our last trip and realized the theming isn't for us.

I vote CR as well. Differing experiences than the AKL. If you have the money stay in the tower.

I picked other because you didn't have GF listed and that's our favorite monorail resort. THe kids love it and it's very relaxing after a day in the parks. It's peaceful and the service can't be beat. We utilize their children activities like the Wonderland Tea Party and the Pirate Cruise.

If for some reason you don't want GF, my second vote would be for the Poly.

I just don't care for the theming of the Contemporary and with small children the convenience of the monorail can't be beat - that's why I wouldn't vote for WL.

I love the WL, but because you are already at AKL, I didn't choose this one.

But one of the reasons I didn't choose WL is the same reason I wouldn't pick AKL. The space. I can't tell by your post, will you have 5 people?? Your 2 year old will be in a crib, right?? Can AKL guarantee you a room with a daybed?? I think I remember that they have those. AKL has the same square footage that WL has, right?? But if you have your heart set on AKL and don't mind being cramped, go for it.

Will there be 4 or 5 of you staying together. If there is five don't even think of the WL. The rooms are very small especially with bunk beds. I would pick a deluxe with more room. Same is true for the AKL . Very small rooms compared to other deluxe rooms. I would go for the Poly out of your choices.:)
