Hi All,

OK, I'm waffling back and forth on this last reservation. I've read not so great reviews of San Angel. Marrakesh looks really fun but how is the food?? My DH loves Mexican food, not the standard Chi-Chi's place though. Any opinions on which place to eat for lunch and why (or why not)? TIA!

I have not eaten at eother one, so I am not much help, but out of the two, I think I would want to try Marrakesh!

I hated Marrakesh. It was tasteless. Never eaten @ San Angel but Cantina de San Angel (counter service) tasted like alpo. Gross.

San Angel tastes more like Purina. :lmao:

Actually never had a problem with either of these restaurants. We love the atmosphere at San Angel though.

Marrakesh - hands down. It's a must-do for us.

We didn't really care for the food or service at San Angel.

Marrakesh. I've heard too many bad reviews for san angel, although I hear the atmosphere is beautiful.

I can only comment on san angel. It was the worst meal and the slowest service our entire trip last year.

For every bad review you'll find 10 good reviews and vis versa. I visit WDW many times each year and I always eat at San Angel. I have never had a bad experience or bad food. What I have found is people around me expecting "Americanized" Mexican food but getting pretty authentic Mexican food and not caring for it, but not everyone likes everything. I also love Marrakesh and eat there fairly often but I would not go there for lunch... too much food.

I'd go with Marakesh. We've had good food and excellent service every time we've went.

I've tried San Angel Inn three different times over the years, because the people I was with that particular trip couldn't believe it could be that bad. All three times we've left our food uneaten. Service is horrible and food has been either lukewarm or one time was even cold (and I'm talking rice, black beans, and enchiladas here, not Ceviche or Sope that's supposed to be served cold). I live in east Texas and we have ALOT of Tex-Mex here, but we also have alot of smaller true Mexican places, plus I work with quite a few Mexicans who bring food to work all the time, so I know the difference between Tex-Mex and true Mexican food. I eat and enjoy both. San Angel Inn is neither.
