Which one of these hotels would you pick?

I am thinking of keeping the kids out of school a few more days after winter break and heading to Disneyland. We have stayed at the Park Vue and loved the proximity, the bunk bed option, and the free breakfast. However, I can get a crazy good deal on flight and hotel if I go through Allegiant Air and they only have a select number of hotel options. If you had to choose between: Hotel ménage (cheapest, but it seems like a long walk over the overpass), Portfolio Inn and Suites, or Castle Inn and Suites, which would you choose and why? Bonus points for rooms that would allow my two kids to sleep separately (like bunk beds, if they are available at any of these three).Thank you!!!

Is it the Portofino Inn and Suites? If so, my cousin is staying there in February, and she said the people who helped with the reservations were really nice. They have a large group and needed several rooms, so the help was really appreciated.

We stayed at the Menage back when it was a Holiday Inn(maybe express). They had a shuttle. It's a looong walk when you are already tired from the parks and it is uphill:eek:

I would go for the Portofino. I've stayed at the other two. Castle Inn was kind of dreary and the beds were old. Menage has more of a young adult vibe and is far to walk (but not impossible) with a family. Also, the room I stayed in picked up a lot of freeway noise.

Lol! I just saw that my iPad autocorrected Portofino to portfolio. Yes, I meant the Portofino.

I went back to look again, told dh I was just going to book it. I had to refresh the website, and everything went up like double. Grrr!!!!!

I was thinking...Wow what a deal! I wonder if you had the right number of people- I've pulled numbers on Allegiant before and realized I didn't have the right number in. I find the best way to check prices is to check "flight only" first, then look at those costs when looking at the packages.

FYI- we went to DL Feb 2010 with Allegiant and paid under $500 for the 3 of us from Bellingham for flight and hotel at the Castle (3 nights)...our experience was fine there..DD was 6 at the time and we found the walk about 7-10 minutes, but we really didn't notice it- we used it to chat about what we were going to do, or on the way home, what we enjoyed etc.
Our room was near the front of the hotel and wasn't loud, we could see CA out of our window. Our room was kept very clean. Yes it is basic but for the price couldn't beat it.

Writegirl, the problem with Allegiant isn't its great prices, it's their bag fees and check in fees, etc. so you should definitely think twice and check the price ALLTHE WAY THROUGH before booking it because they fly from Monterey in Cali to Vegas, the base rate may be $400 for two of us, but after baggage fees, carry on fees, that total goes up...that's for Vegas and I can imagined everything you'd pack for a week at Disney. Might not be worth the hidden fees.

Don't stay at the Castle Inn, we did and it was the worst stay ever in Anaheim and the 2nd worst hotel we've ever stayed in. It was bad, rude rude rude staff, dirty room, loud, no pool towels, only 4 towels in a room that 6 people were booked into....OMG it was the worst and definitely not what you would expect from a Disney area hotel!

I haven't stayed at the other 2 but the Menage will be a long walk, about 15 minutes I would guess. It's farther then the HoJo and the HoJo is about 10 minutes back at night. Menage will be on the ART route I think so if you stay there you may want to check into that, or if you will have a car pull out of the Menage lot, flip a u-turn at the first light and head back to the Mickey and Friends lot.

Go back and check again, you might get lucky.

We stayed at Portofino suites in a kids suite Oct 21 to Oct 25. It was ok and I am not sure I would stay their again it was just basic no frills. The room was clean, carpet was in ok condition, the beds were fine. The TV's were old CRT's, the curtain on the sliding glass door between the parent room and kids room was shear so we put up a sheet at night for privacy. The A/C kind of smelled when we would turn it on. The kids did like the bunkbeds dd7 was on the top and ds15 on the bottom bunk. There is a sofa, table/desk and and kids table and chairs with TV, micro and fridge in the kids room. Two vanities. One in bathroom and one outside it with a coffee maker on it. Kids have to go thru the parent room to get to the bathroom. This is about as far as I would have walked. We are used to taking the shuttle from Embassy Suites but this place saved me $300 for the 4 night stay over Embassy Suites once you factor in the shuttle, parking fee, internet fee. We did not have to pay any of this at Protofino suites.
