Which of These Two Vacations Would You Rather Take?

The traveling party consists of: Mom, Dad, three kids ages 10,6,3

Option 1: Fly from DFW to Orlando, and stay at All Star Music Suites for eight days, 7 nights.

Option 2: Rent an RV and drive from DFW to Orlando, and stay at Ft. Wilderness for six days, five nights. No dining plan, some meals will be eaten at campsite.

Option 1 no question. You get to fly and stay longer. But why don't you ask your kids what they want to do.

Dude, most definetly option 1! Why? Cause the one in an RV requires work! As a kid I thought camping was loads of fun! I couldn't understand why my mom didn't like it too much...till I went camping as an adult...there is work to do...get things loaded up, do the driving, do the cooking, do the cleaning, do the everything like ya do at home. Not a vacation for me!

I too would go for option 1. You get to stay longer and you don't need to make your own bed. What more could you ask for?

Option One is the one I would choose. As previous posters pointed out-more days and you get to fly. I personally like flying!!! Going on the mini monorail at Orlando Airport gets the Disneygiddiness in me going!

Stay longer, dining plan, check out the new suites, you fly into MCO..

Me too.

Option 1. Hands down.

We live in Austin and we always drive to WDW, it takes 17 hours. But time off from work is not an issue for us, and the money we save by driving over flying allows us to stay 10 nights instead of 6.

I would go for #1 too. To much work for the person who still has to cook and clean up after people. That is not a holiday. My kids love camping so we do that other times with them.

Wow, I think I am going to be "odd man out". I have never taken a vacation in an RV and that sounds like fun to me. I have taken plenty of vacations in motels and hotels and have stayed at WDW many times, although not in the All Stars. I tend to be a "hotel snob". The RV however really appeals to me.

Actually, we are already booked to do option #2! Apparently not the most popular choice!

We just thought it would be more of an adventure to go rv'ing. You know, waking up to beautiful scenery, the kids watching lizards and birds scamper about, gathering pinecones, watching fireworks from the FW beach.

And most of us really dislike flying.

We tent camp every year, so having an RV will be much less work than I am used to.

We just came back from camping in a trailer and I have to say go with option 1. No matter how often I showered, I just couldn't get over the feeling of being dirty. Yuck!

I vote for #2. We just got back from a 2 week road trip with our three kids - we had a blast! Kids don't care about fancy shmancy hotels - they'll love to camp!

I would say option 1.. Several reasons.. one being you dont have to clean anything up.. you would get to stay longer and third being no driving..

#1 is my choice too. No driving and someone else to make the beds. Also, more time at WDW.

I find it interesting that so many responses mention not having to clean or make beds....just how messy are you people, anyway?

Just kidding. A little tidying or bedmaking is not a big deal to me...would take a few minutes, tops. I am one of those weirdos that does laundry on vacation too!

And I would rather clean than have to be constantly shushing my kids, to keep them from being too noisy in the hotel room. And they feel so cooped up all the time - All Stars don't even have balconies, right?

I know everyone says "how much time do you spend in the room" but when you have little ones, you do spend a fair bit of time back at the resort. They get tired, they need naps, eating out for every meal becomes a chore...

Anyway, I started the thread because so many people that I have mentioned the trip to said things like "are you crazy? Why would you camp when you could stay in a hotel?" So apparently we are, indeed, crazy.

Option 1. Hands down. Not really a camping type girl anymore (although I used to be). I would rather not cook on my vacation
