Which of the 3 should I cut?

I've decided to change my original plan to accomodate our plan a bit better. By doing so, I will need to cut one of these....LeCellier, Boma, or Teppan Edu. We'll be on the DDP, and I really don't want to pay OOP for any meals, but if all 3 of these are "must do's" then we may consider it.

My first thought is to cut Boma because I'm not sure if the kids will like anything on the menu, and it's on our AK day and I'm not sure we'll stay there that long. However, I would really like to see AKL.

We have restaurants similar to TE near our home, but don't eat there often because of the expense with 5 kids, lol! This is the one I've added in to accomodate our plan better, and in case LeCellier is booked.

Based purely on food alone (we've not been to any of these places), which one would you cut? And which one would you absolutely NOT cut?

All three have good food in my opinion. :)

I personally could cut Boma only because of transportation issues. We usually rely on Disney transportation and Boma is a bit of a pain to get to and get back from on the bus. The other two I would keep because they are in Epcot.

Those are all good. I'd cut Teppan Edo just because it's my least favorite of the three, but still worth dining there if you get the chance. It's also a good point thought that it can be a hassle to get to AKL. We usually drive so it's a non-issue, but if you're taking transport it can be a bit of a drag to get over to Boma.

Can't cut Le Cellier, it's too hard to get. Also one of my favorite places to eat.

Also if you're staying in an Epcot resort, I'd definitely stay with the Epcot restaurants, since they'd be so convenient. I'd also consider keeping all 3 if it's not a wallet-buster. They're all worth trying IMO.

I'd cut out Teppan Edo. We too have a ton of places around where we live and have been to Japanese many times so it only makes sense to cut that one out, you can have that experience any time.

This is a really good point. Teppan Edo is not significantly different from a typical Japanese hibachi place. Teppan Edo is probably the least distinctive of the options.

I'd cut Teppan Edo.

It's a great plan to do Boma on your AK day. Bussing to AKL is literally around the corner and isn't any trouble. Now, getting back to your resort could present a challenge. We never have a car and always rely on Disney transportation. If you finish in the park early, go over to the Lodge and just walk the grounds. The gift shop is wonderful as is the lobby. If you time it right, the kids may be able to enjoy the storyteller.

Enjoy your trip and your meals whatever you decide.

I would cut Boma. If you aren't sure your kids will like it, I would hate for you to waste a credit on it. If you want to see the lodge, still go on your AK day. Take the bus from the park to the resort. Spend some time in the beautiful lobby. Walk around the grounds and view the animals from the public viewing areas. It might be a nice break in the afternoon heat to be in some AC. If you want, you can grab a meal or a snack at Mara (the CS option at AKL). You can at least sample a zebra dome here. :goodvibes When you are finished looking around, take the bus back to the park and finish up there. You will then be able to get a bus back to your own resort.

I think Le Cellier is fun, and in our experience has had good food. I also think Teppan Edo is fun. I think this is the only restaurant of the three to provide entertainment for your kids. I understand that you might have a restaurant similar to this at home, but if you don't want to spend the money on it there, why not try it with a credit at Disney!

Good luck with your decision. Enjoy your trip!!

Boma is one of our favorite places to eat anywhere. Cut Teppan Edo in my opinion. Literally, you can get the exact same food at your local hibachi. Your family will find something they like no matter what their level of pickiness. My son said the chicken nuggets there were the best he has had anywhere. The deserts at Boma are AMAZING!!

Personally I would cut Teppan Edo. We love Boma and a visit to AKL is definitely worth it. The gift shop is the best of all of the resorts with some wonderful African offerings. I would go Boma and Le Cellier and keep Teppan Edo as a backup if you can't get a reservation at Le Cellier.

I would cut LeCellier, it was disappointing. Not very good food or service. I definetly wouldn't cut Boma.

My kids LOVE Boma! We haven't been to Teppan Edo since it was called Teppanyaki. DH and I enjoyed it, the kids liked the entertainment but the food was not as kid-friendly. Dessert definitely not as fun for kids as Boma (green tea ice cream vs. zebra domes - not a fair fight!)

DON'T cut LeCellier! I'd give Boma a chance - kids can eat kid food or try foods from the regular buffet, and the chocolate milk is unlimited...;) DS nearly makes himself sick on those Zebra Domes each time.

I would not cut LeCellier!:rotfl: If you have to cut one, I would pick Teppan Edo!

I'd cut Teppan Edo. It is good food but nothing notable compared to the many Teppanyaki places around the country such as Benihanas.

Boma is excellant but not for everyone. The foods are very different and not for picky eaters. That said they do have plenty of more common foods for those in the party not willing to try something different.

Boma is more difficult to get to/from than most other restaurants. Buses only run to/from Parks and Resorts, not Resort to Resort and there is no other way to get to/from AK Lodge where Boma is (unless you have your own car). AK Park closes fairly early so usually can't take a bus from AK Lodge to AK Park after dinner to catch a bus to your resort. The only option is to take a bus to one of the other parks or if late at night you must go to DTD and then to your resort. DTD late at night can have huge lines for the buses. All that in mind, Boma is on our must do list. Great food and a fun time.

I would cut out Le Cellier. We ate there for years and the last couple trips it has been very disappointing. Just because its still hard to get an adr, doesn't mean its good. I would only consider going there to get the cheese soup OOP. We like Teppan Edo because while it does have food smiilar to places near home, we can never afford it without the DP. And we love Boma - great food and its fun to see AKL. Boma is my favorite restaurant in WDW and beyond :goodvibes.

Where else are you eating during the week, give us something easy to cut.

Of those choices, I've only been to Le Cellier and I think it's way overrated. Honestly, the one thing that blew me away was the complimentary pretzel bread. I didn't think the cheese soup was anything special and, really, a steak is a steak. You could go to all kinds of places for steak if that's what you want.

If your kids aren't picky eaters, Boma might be fine. It's not often you're exposed to African cuisine, so it'd be a good opportunity for everyone to experience something totally new and different. As someone else said, you could easily hop on a bus to AKL just to look around. Maybe even consider trying to get restaurant reservations elsewhere instead, like Yak & Yeti in AK for example?

Since you've been to teppanyaki restaurants, I'd cut Teppan Edo. While I haven't been to that one, I've been to a handful of different teppanyaki places and they're pretty much all the same. The food's the same, the show the chefs put on is the same...

hmmmmm...I'd cut the Japanese place. It is like other ones that are probably in your area. Boma has regular food, as well. My sister in law has kids that are pretty picky and they really like Boma. This resort is so pretty!! You should see it for sure...decor, animals, African art...it is our famly's favorite! Le Cellier is supposed to be one of the BESAT places to eat at WDW so Id keep that for sure...

I'd cut LeCellier. It's highly over-rated. We make better steaks at home, frankly. The cheese soup is good, but you could always go there OOP & have soup & breadsticks.

Boma is great & there's something for everyone. AKL is beautiful & it would be great to go after AK, visit Arusha Rock, look at the animals, have dinner at Boma, take the kids to storytelling at the firepit, maybe look at the savannah with night vision goggles - make a night of it.

Kids love Teppen Edo. If you have one at home & never go to it, you'll really like it. It's alot fun for the whole family.

Both Teppen Edo & Boma are very richly themed & full of that special something that is Disney Magic. LeCellier is nice, but not as special IMHO.
