OK trying to figure out flights for October as we may spend a few nights in Miami when we get there, so out of the following airlines which would be best?

American Airlines

US Airways

KLM

Delta

Thanks

Continental are good too...

I was going to say Continental too, we have flown with them for our last 4 trips and they have always been very good. We only aren't using them this time because we are using Tesco vouchers with VH. :thumbsup2

KLM and Delta are codeshare partners so they share planes. I have booked with Delta this year, but some of my flight is KLM.

Both have been good in the past, I would go with the cheapest as you don't really get "horrific" scheduled flights to the USA (unless of course the DIS can tell me otherwise), as the competition keeps the standard up.

IMO I usually just book with who has the best price, baggage allowance, and flight times at the time of booking:thumbsup2

didnt think tesco cc could be used on VH. Well - now i know !

Although, Continental are stopping our flights from BRS-MCO this November. Bummer....

It's a shame, but KLM isn't what it used to be anymore by far. Hasn't been for years either. I'm Dutch myself, but we never ever fly KLM for any destination if we can help it. They simply do not compare to their competitors anymore. Too cramped, service not up to par, pricing tends to be in the higher half of prices, not so great FF-program, etc.

Horrific of course depends on what an individual is looking for. :) I've got some standards that deviate from the 'average', which leads me to find some airlines to be pure Hellish Airways -and that's being nice-. Others will find those airlines to be fine for their family. It's all in wishes, desires, wants and needs. Having said that, AA and in a lesser form USA are amongst the airlines that have many frequent flyers saying "if I can, I'll avoid".

Delta took a bit of a hit since their merger with NWA, which apparently showed in service. Having said that, have been hearing many sounds of it going better. :) UA; loved amongst many EU tourists. Does have a fair amount of complaints filled though. But then again, it is the US. ;) CO; good rep, allthough getting a fair amount of beating by elites since recent changes made in the process of their merger with UA. Once the merger will be a fact, it is feared their service will take a bit of a beating.

If you're an 'average' tourist, haven't got any special wishes, desires, needs, whatever? Not even close to likely to fly the airline more often and thus build a ff-status with them? With the options you've posted, I'ld say Delta, after first checking out that Delta is carrying out the flight not KLM (very easily done, will be shown on the website. If it's a Delta flightnumber, they will specifically tell you if KLM is carrying out the flight and vice versa. Flightnumber and actual airline flying are the same? Nothing will be said).

Thanks for all the replies have now booked a KLM fligtht but it is on Delta planes :)

I know it's too late for you now. But for anyone else looking, it is worth checking Air Lingus from Dublin. You can usually get very cheap flights over to pick it up, and with the Euro exchange rate moving in the right direction for us, it has made their prices better too.

We've never flown with KLM, but if we're not flying with Virgin we always fly AA. We've only ever flown once with Delta and US airways and said never again!

I've done LHR to various US cities with American Airlines and they have always been great. :thumbsup2

i would fly with whoever is cheapest...

of your list, i've flown transatlantic with KLM, Delta, and Continental....

i've had mixed experience with all of them...sometimes good, sometimes not so good....

so i would just go with whichever one is cheapest....

Hi! I'm sitting here wondering if I should book a cheap flight to Los Angeles and would love some advice :). It is an American Airlines flight with a 5 hour layover in Heathrow during the return journey. Would you think that was too long? The price won't get lower as they are having their sale and the other flights offered have 2 stops instead of the one. I can do 5 hours although I'd prefer at most 3, but what makes me nervous is if I wait 5 and then after that it was delayed. Happened to me once!

Ahh probably over thinking it lol! Any advice is appriciated :goodvibes! Thanks!

I'm going to Disneyland :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I would rather have a longer layover than not long enough. I don't really care for waiting around for excessive periods in an airport. And I have to say that Heathrow is not my favourite airport. However, when looking for reasonable flight prices, this is the compromise you have to face. Is the 5 hours worth a good discount on what you would pay? Personally, I could handle 5 hours for a significant saving. Some of that time is taken up with checking in and boarding your connecting flight. I don't know what Heathrow's lounge options are currently as I haven't flown from there for a few years now, but it may be worth looking into booking an airport lounge.

Thank you, you're right about rather too long then too little time. I thought the savings would be significant but now I've found a BA flight that's 27 pounds more with much more reasonable waits. Just BA, I don't know, silly but I can't get over the baggage nightmare they had a while back. Hmm I think I'll have to sleep on it but it's good to know I have at least 2 choices at a great price. Not too mention nice Disers who will help lead the way :thumbsup2!

This year I am using farewatcher and it really seems to be a great site!
