If we can't stay at DLH, PP, or DGC which partner hotel do you recommend? I have heard that Sheraton's are nice and have some kind of really nice mattress for their beds. Which is the closest? Are there any you could walk to/from?:confused3

My two favorites are the Candy Cane Inn which is a short and pleasnt walk to the entrance and also has its own shuttle to the park and a nice continental breakfast. Also the Howard Johnson which is a little farther away but still easily walkable though without shuttle or breakfast but is also usually about $20 a night less than Candy Cane. If we can't afford a Disney hotel we stay at one of those.

We felt we got a good deal at Candy Cane Inn. With the breakfast and shuttle, it made for a very nice stay. We walked back one night, but with the shuttle...why?

My crew is staying at the Best Western Park Plaza Inn and Suites

It's directly across the street from the DL's walk-in entrance and the rates seem pretty good. I haven't stayed there yet so I can't give you first-hand experience but a friend of ours said they had previously "wished" they were staying that close every night they walked "home" from the park and passed by it :)

Carousel Inn was our pick, very short walk (about 5 mins to maingate), clean rooms, good service. We have also stayed at the Tropicanna which is next door but more expensive and not as good. Candy Cane and HoJos are a 20 minute walk, could be a problem if you have young children as is waiting for the shuttle. Have heard that the Candy cane can be very noisey as very close to harbour boulvard

I am a HoJo loyalist! It was rated #1 for families by Tripadvisor, and has many positive reviews on this site and other disney boards. My favorite things about it is the room size, pool areas (best outside the resort), pretty landscaping, excellent customer service and the unbeatable entertainment rates they offer during off-peak times.

It is a tad bit farther of a walk than some of the others mentioned, but still very close (about 10 minutes from room to esplanade).

We also love HOJO's when we can't stay on site, I didn't find the walk that bad and I had a 6 year old. McDonalds is on the way, and it's only about 10 minutes at a regular pace (read 6 year old) Pool great, rooms big, customer service great and a neat gift shop with all kinds of food and stuff.

The Marriott is really nice and there is a shuttle from the hotel to the park every 15 minutes (or 30 I don't remember)

The onlt hotel I stayed at was GC and I am staying there again, is it a good rate, it might be but very expensive but I love the convience to both parks and DTD. I have MS and walking far distances is not easy for me so that is why I stay there, if the walking factor was not a problem I would stay at any one of the hotels within walking distance. I am sure no matter where you stay you are going to have a FUNtastic time

We have done the Carousel Inn many times and are always happy with it. A few months ago I read on another board that there were rats in the greenery outside the Candy Cane. Check TripAdvisor-I am pretty sure there are reviews there that mention it as well.

We usually stay at the Candy Cane Inn for convenience or at the Hyatt if we are using points. We are trying out the Homewood Suites this trip.

Do any of you know anything about Portofino Inn and Suites? Thanks

We stayed there several years ago when they were still very new. It was "okay". The halls were dirty and even though we were in a "no smoking" section it all still smelled like smoke. The kids' suite was very nice sized and convenient. The walk is about 15 minutes to the front gates, but we took the ART. I prefer the hotels closer to the main entrance on Harbor.

I always have to ask how many people are we talking about and approx ages to me makes a difference. There are many great places to stay but Anaheim fire regs dictate how many people/room. What is important to you??
