Hello! We leave on Sunday and I am in a struggle to plan our MK days because DH is not into coming back to the park for the nighttime parades, fireworks, etc... I already booked Kona Café for dinner to alleviate the crowds for fireworks viewing. If your DH had to choose between Fantasmic and the electric night parade, which would be the choice? My DH just watched Fantasmic on YouTube and said it's the same thing he saw last year at Disneyland which was not Fantasmic. He equates it with a light show. They all fall in the same category for him. I've never been to MK at night since we're there at rope drop which so DH sees no need to go back later.... I would love to know which attraction the DHs enjoy more!!

The thing is at MK, you can see the light show and the fireworks on the same night. I would pick fireworks over fantasmic.

Problem is being in a park that late when I insist on rope drop each morning. DD12 doesn't mind but DH definitely does!!

Lure him with desserts. That would get me to go.. Lol. I'm not into fantasmic or the fireworks, I would rather be at the pool sipping some mixed drink and playing with my kids. But tell me unlimited desserts, with cannolis, and I might budge.

Its not too late, depending on when you are going. Light parade at 8pm fireworks at 9pm. Fireworks are 13 minutes.

As a DH myself. Nothing beats riding splash mountain and BTM at night. It's a totally different experience. Also, the mine train at twilight is also amazing.

I personally like wishes and illuminations over the nighttime parade and fantastic.

These are my favorites as night too.

That's a problem for us, too.

What would DH rather do? Could he sleep in to meet you at the parks, and therefore have the energy to stay out later?

My fiancé was a Disney skeptic.... until I made him stay and watch Wishes with me the first night we were there. After it was over he looked at me and said "I get it now", flash forward a year and we are honeymooning there. Wishes is magical, once you get your husband there he will love it.

I also vote for Wishes. Obviously I am completely generalizing and stereotyping here, but men love fireworks. My DH looooves fireworks, and he says Wishes is one of the best he's seen. Wishes and Illuminations are probably tied for his favorites.

The OP is going in a week. Wishes is at 10. Fantasmic is at 8:30, and Illuminations is at 9.

My DH likes them all. If the lateness of the show is a big deal, maybe you could compromise by not doing a RD the next day. Or just letting him sleep in while you head to the park early. MK is the one park that you really need to experience at night. Some of the rides seem completely different after dark. Rides like splash, JC, BTMRR, the People mover. I can take or leave the parade, but Wishes really is different than any other fireworks show you've ever seen.

Worse comes to worst, and he won't go just to make you happy, then I say let him take his sorry self back to the resort and you go to the park and have a magical time.

If he wants something that's not a light show, the parade is at least something a little different. It's also less sappy than most of the other nighttime entertainment, which for me is a big selling point. It's the only nighttime entertainment I go out of my way to see.

Edited to add: Or just don't expect him to go to any of them. Honestly, if he's not interested in them, don't try to make him care about them. But if you need his help for kid-wrangling etc., I think the parade is less boring and light show-ish.

As a DH I would have to say for me it would be Wishes, Fantasmic, Illuminations, and Electric Light Parade in that order.

Wishes is cool and fun to watch. It does not take long and you can get other stuff in if you wish. To me the others I would do if I did not have a busy day planned the next day. The parade I skip every time. Watched it once and so let down after all those years of Spectromagic.

I do have to say myself and the DS love to take advantage of the parade / wishes window. Big Thunder and Splash is oh so much fun at night and the lines during that window is not to bad. Throw in Pirates, except this visit it was closed. We normally schedule our MK night time when they are open late. So the crowds are heading out and we are just starting the party.

This. My husband never goes back to the park with us in the evening, unless its EPCOT for a drink, or if he didn't go with us in the morning. He's a strictly once a day park visitor. He's quite content to sit back in the room with a beer and the TV while the kiddo and I gallivant around the world at night.

Never push a spouse who isn't snorting the pixie dust, or mainlining it into their veins, into doing something, or going somewhere, that they don't really want to. Bad things happen, trust me. I almost got divorced on the second night of a Disney trip once.

What DHs enjoy most is deciding for themselves, and not being treated as a statistic from an internet forum survey.

Having said that, I have no problem with pointing out that for some of the outdoor rides, riding them when it's dark outside is a very different experience.

I must say I'm shocked that anyone wouldn't go back for the night. I love mk at night and that's a priority for us. Fantastic not so much. My husband would agree.

I'm a DH but I am also a Disney nerd along with my DW and DD(8) I work 2 jobs and I am not around a lot so when I am in WDW I spend as much time as I can with my family regardless of where we are eating or what park we are in....probably because I booked it and planned it. So It's kinda hard for me to answer this
