Hello. I am new here, however I have lurked for about 1 year :rolleyes1 We just did our 1st family trip since having children, not sure what took us so long :confused3. Anyways, it is I, DH, DD (7), DS (5). I am trying to convince DH for another trip to Disney World next year. I have 3 time frames I am considering. 1st- January 2011 (the first part of the month for a week, this would mean taking the kids out of school for part of it). 2nd- End of May 2011, first of June (the kids wouldn't have to miss school, we would leave right when they get out. 3rd- Mid October 2011 (they have fall break and would only have to miss 3 or 4 days of school. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated! Thanks! :)

We went in January of this year. I have an 11 year old and a 12 year old. It was great! I prefer to go in off season because the crowds are lower and so are the prices. Most of the rides were walk on. The weather is iffy, but we olny had 1 day of rain and one cold day, which was still warmer than it was back home:thumbsup2 I did a prearranged absence for my kids and got most of their school work ahead of time. By the time we left it was done. My daughter was actually ahead of her class when she returned. Just check with your schools ploicy on absences. I know not all school allow it. Good luck!!

We have been in January 2008, 2009 and 2010. We like this time of yr. Usually the weather is good...60-70 degrees. We had 3 days in the 2009 trip that were VERY COLD and we just missed thecold weather Florida had this January by 1 day. We were so glad it warmed up. Crowds are low then but the do pick up a little the weekend b4 the ML Kink, Jr holiday. Most Fl schoold are out the Monday so you get more loacals. But, still it is a very managable crowd

I have not been in Oct but I would this this would be a great time, as well. I bet it is warmer than January but you might risk more rain bc of hurricane season.

Smallest crowds and best weather is Oct. The weather is usually too cold in Jan for me. The May and June weeks are the same for weather and crowds, hotter and more crowded.

I would go for October. The food and wine festival is then and it is a lot of fun. We have a DS(9) and a DD(7). They enjoy the food and wine festival. The crowds are not bad. I have been at the 1st week in January and it was crowded. They have the marathon also and when we went they gave the marathon runners great group packages and so they brought the families.

The crowds from new years eve through that whole week were unbelievable.

I love going in May if heat is not a big factor its a great time, as the summer crowd hasn't gotten totally crazy yet. (Winter is also highly underrated, hours are shorter but its a lot less crowded after the holidays are over)

october for sure we love wdw in september from now on we will book in september...

Another vote for October...we loved it when my work schedule permitted October trips.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I am leaning toward October or January. Is around New Years extremely busy or manageable? Thanks!

Is there any month thats not good time to go?:rotfl2:,just a note we went In Oct of last year and It was pack!,not that we minded of couse:cool1: but just to give you a heads up. This Is also the time for MNSSHP and food and wines fest, both big draws!.

For us it's always the June time frame. Unfortunately at that time of the year Florida's like a sauna. But the park closes late though.

I wanted to add,we usually go In the spring during my DS spring break. Its such a wonderfull time and just really wanted to tell you how much wwe really love thast time of the year with the mouse. With the flower garden show going on and all the bush scluptures, and the weather I think it Is hands down the best time of the year. Have a great time.

I vote for October as well but between Jan 1st and before marathon weekend is fine for crowds but weather is iffy. This year we ran the 1/2 and it was 27 degrees at the start. Got up to a whopping 37 that day.

This September will be our 4th trip to Disney and we have always gone in the second or third week.....each trip we have had one day of rain but took that opportunity to do disney quest. The weather is normally in the high 80s to low 90s! Since the last few years they have offered the free dining in sept is has become busier at that time but we have never waited more than 30 mins for any ride. I love this time of year.....and the kids get an extra week off school....so of course they do not complain! Good luck with your plans

My niece works at Disney and says the week after New Years to the 2nd week of February is the least crowded time. Also, the week after Thanksgiving to the 2nd week od December is also slow.
