Which month do you think is better weather wise and crowd wise? Mid July or mid August.

Thanks:cool1:

Mid August. I went this past August the last week of 8-12 hours and the last week that the APs were blocked out and the crowds were lighter than normal summer crowds. But they should be close in terms of crowds. Not that big of a difference.

I've never been in July, so I don't know about that but we went in mid-late August '06 and it was great. We didn't wait long for anything and the weather was nice.

We have been 2nd-3rd week August for the last 3 years and found it busy but doable. Jack

Honestly, I consider them both times for hot weather and large crowds. They are both summer months, during the busy season. Especially in the middle of the months, I would expect both.

Late August might be okay, since a lot of schools go back around then.

I think we may just go with late August. We also want to do San Diego Zoo and Sea World. Any suggestions on a moderate to deluxe hotel in that area? Also is Universal closer to DL or Seaworld?

Thanks:)

Universal is closer to DL. I don't know of any good hotels in San Diego though.

Hilton San Diego is awesome, right near Sea World. The zoo/animal park you'll have to travel a little bit to, maybe 15 minutes, not bad. The Hilton is on Mission Bay Drive, it is beautiful and in a great area. It is a resort so they have watersports and a restaruant and I think a spa, too. Very nice, even for a short stay!

As for the weather, prepare for HEAT in mid/late August and be pleasently surprised if it is cooler. I mean heat like 100's. San Diego is considerably cooler because Sea World is on the coast with a lovely ocean breeze, but the zoo will be hot as well.

If your kids are on the younger side (4-12 yrs old) you might consider Legoland instead of the Zoo. The zoo is nice but nothing that you couldn't find closer to home, but Legoland is really neat, especially when it's hot because it has a lot of water attractions.
