Which would you chose??
DH says lets stay at the GF!! Its our 20th anniversary. He knows I have always wanted to stay there!! I know there is a lot of info but dont want to sort through that thread. Tell me about the rooms, are they nice, remodeled?
Patios, balcony??
Is this the monorail resort you would chose?? Thanks lots!! :cool1: :cool1:

One word....YES!!!

If your DH is wanting to stay there take him up on it!! The Poly is nice and romantic as well..but heck...go for it!

I would definately definately pick the Grand Floridian.

So light, airy, elegant and just gorgeous!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the GF. We were in a lagoon view/castle view room in Boca Chica. We had no problems at all during our stay there, but unfortunately I've read a lot of reviews from people who were less than impressed with the service, especially concierge.

We enjoyed the balcony and our view of the ENTIRE lagoon, including the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's castle, the Polynesian, the Contemporary, and even the top of the Wilderness Lodge peeking out above the tree tops!

The room was very nice, the bathroom spacious (in comparison to some of the other resorts). The toilet and shower are in one room with a door, which is off the changing area/sinks area.

There are upgraded amenities in the room, shampoo, soap, lotion, cotton balls, Q-tips, etc all in themed packages. Very cute :)

We loved turn-down service and the chocolates left on our pillows each night.

I know we'll stay there again some day! First, I have to pacify DH by staying at the Wilderness Lodge for our trip this summer (he's been wanting to stay there for years now!), and then the following trip we'll be staying at the Polynesian resort because ALL (DSs, DH, and I) of us want to try that resort. But after that, it'll probably be back to the Grand Floridian again.

I have some pictures of our stay there on my web site. The link is below, in my signature, just scroll down the main page a bit to the "May 2001" section, then click on "The Grand Floridian" under resorts.

Happy Anniversary, and have a wonderful time!!!!!!! :sunny: :flower:

I think you should stay at the GF- you yourself said you always wanted to stay there. :flower:
And it is you 20th anniversary!!!!! Sounds wonderful to me

We have stayed at both GF and CR, and we like CR. The big question is what type of theme do you like? If you are into the Victorian theme, it's nice. But unless you stay in the main building, (very pricey), it can be a walk to transportation depending on which building you stay at. Personally, I think the rooms are beautiful, and the resort certainly has a romantic ambience (if you will) about it. We just happen to like CR as it is lively and very Disney. Have a wonderful time whatever you choose!

If your husband wants to stay at the GF, then by all means take him up on the offer. If you don't want to stay there, I'll go with him;)

:rotfl2: Thanks for offering but I think I will be going!!! Tomorrow I will be in the double digits!! :cool1:

Another vote for the GF! We stayed there in Nov and I absolutely loved it! We were in the Big Pine Key bldg (garden view) and our walk to everything was minimal. My DH smokes so I picked a smoking room but you couldn't tell. 1st smoking room I've ever had anywhere that didn't smell. Our balcony overlooked the courtyard pool and due to the beautiful weather we were always out on it. Trans via monorail/boat was awesome and we were able to have dinners at CR and Poly with ease. DH (who hated AKL) was even impressed and said it would be hard for him to want to stay anywhere else. We had our 8 year old and I did find it kid friendly there, but it's definitely romantic enough for a couple. Wherever you stay, I know you'll ENJOY!!! :cool1:

I'd take him up on the GF - I stayed there last Oct for the Happy Haunts Event - it wasn't one of the resorts I was dying to try, but it did win me over. I fell in love with the place. I hope to share it with my DH some upcoming trip.

I think it reallly depends on what type of theming you and your husband would like for this trip. I mean its a big event so congratulations on your 20th anniversary!!!! :) I've read a lot about this resort for my DH's benefit, because I wanted to be objective about it for our honeymoon trip that we have coming up. You see I stayed there when I was a bit younger and absolutely hated it. We had things stolen from our room and the staff was no help whatsoever in recovering what they called "cursory items that were easily replacable." We found that very snooty considering that we had had clothes, watches, and my wallet (I was a pre-teenager at the time so it's not like it had a lot of money in it but it was the principle of the thing) taken. I have heard other individuals who simply hated the theming of it, and on my DH and I's last visit to Disney we swung by the GF and I still hated the theming of it. Perhaps it was a bad impression of it though the first time that made me biased. DH thought it was merely "Okay." Also my cousins just returned from a trip there and deemed it "Alright." They found the staff not very friendly, but barely adequate I believe was the way they put it. They also were not too fond of the lack of a food court and the like. However, if you are a restaurant person then this place would be a nice choice.

Anyways, if you like that theming, the location, and the restaurant there then go for it! If you are unsure I would opt for another resort. My personal vote for the monorail resorts though would be the Polynesian because the staff has always been friendly (unlike our stay at the GF, my parents still joke about the horrors of that stay) and the location was superb as well.

Good luck planning your trip! I just wanted to throw in another opinion so you could get both opinions before deciding to spend the money on it! :earsboy:

I'll give my two cents and say POLY! GF seems to be so stuffy to me and the Poly seems so laid back. Either way you can't go wrong. :cool1:

Oh, gosh, where do I start? The GF is wonderful...there is just an incredible feeling of sublime there...I can't think of a better way to describe it. The beds are so comfy, the decor is wonderful, the lobby is a great place to relax and take it all in, the shops are cool, there are many great restaurants, two great pools and lots of beautiful views to be taken in. The transportation is good, especially those great little motor launches to and from the MK. It is terribly expensive (the only drawback)--otherwise we'd be there several times a year! But it's a wonderful, heavily atmospheric hotel and my very favorite around WDW. :lovestruc
