We have just decided to take DD to WDW for her 5th b-day. We need help choosing a moderate hotel. Last Sept. we stayed at CSR while we really liked it we would like to try a different hotel this time. We will have DD 5 and DS 2, plus MIL and boyfriend so we need one with a good range of activities. Which hotel would you reccomend and why. One thing we loved about the CSR was the pool, will we be disappointed with the other pools? We did not care for the food at CSR or the location. This time we would like to stay closer to the bigger parks.

Thanks for any help.

I would suggest PO. One of the best things is, you can take a boat ride down the Sassagoula River to Downtown Disney, where there's lots of things to do! :D

Why - because I like it! :-)

OK, ok...

POR has an excellent food court, beautiful theming, multiple pools, sit down restaurants, a Fishing hole, the River Cruise to DD, and comfortable rooms (can fit 5 actually in the Alligator Bayou section rooms).

CSR does have the best pool among the moderates. POR has a number of 'quiet pools' scattered about the resort, and a main pool - ol' Man River - with a slide, etc but it isn't as large or as fancy as that big old Pyramid/Jaguar slide...

Our favorite moderate is CBR. It offers a quiet relaxing atmosphere in the village areas and quiet pools and the party atmoshere of the Main pool area and food court. Childre love the atmoshere of CBR and the main pool. This is a very family friendly resort.

:earsboy: :earsgirl:

I have stayed at all 4 and while I really like CSR and CBR I would say if you want something really different then skip CBR as it is a bit similar to CSR. I would choose POR. It is interesting and varied. It had nice gardens, formal feeling pools and casual pools. There are forests with ponds and masnion homes with manicured gardens. I have seen lots of rabbits and ducks there. My least favorite is POFQ but take a look at the pictures. It might suit you well and because it is smaller everything was convenient.

We have stayed at the CBR and the CS and loved them both. I know how you feel. Want to try something new, but hate to be disappointed and wish you stayed at the one you knew you liked. I'm all for trying something new though. We're going in May and trying the PO-R. I think they're all similar in their offerings, just different themings.

We were in the same situation.
I found I could get a mod for $10 a night more than ASMo.
We had also stayed at CSR. DH really liked it (well -- the PM ;) best) but we wanted something different.
We also went with POR because of the theming and I have read so much good about it here.

Except for the PO- French Quarter, we've stayed at all the moderates. Each has it's own pros and cons, but we liked CSR the best. The kids loved the pool, we liked the theming of the room, and it seemed a bus always came by when we needed it. But no matter which moderate you stay in, I don't think you can go wrong. While at WDW, take an evening to visit the other moderates for possible future visits.

Once you pick a moderate, the DIS has a map of all the resorts. Pick a building that offers the most desirable aspects (privacy, closeness to a pool, food court, or bus stop, etc.) and ask for this building when making your reservations.

Good Luck!

Why not split your stay between Poly Concierge, BC Concierge, Swan, and All Star Sports?

JUST KIDDING!!!!!

CSR is our favorite moderate, but our kids see pics we took at the CBR pool, (while we were childless), and would LOVE to stay there.....I haven't stayed at POR, but I don't think you could go wrong with CBR.

I think the pool at the cbr is the smallest of all the moderates, if you plan on spending much time at the pool, the CSR has a really
cool pool w/ a play area just to the side of it.

all the resorts are here and the pictures tell all.

I would choose either PO-R or PO-FQ. Because they are sister resorts, you can use the amenities at either. The pools are really nice, and a 5 year old will LOVE the Serpent Slide at PO-FQ. You will have a choice of 2 different food courts, 2 different play grounds, and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. Also, as an added bonus, after 4pm the riverboat runs from the PO-R Docks to Downtown Disney.

Have a great time:)

Another vote for Port Orleans Riverside. It's got the best food court, the grounds are gorgeous, and the boat to Downtown Disney is an added perk. We'll be returning there in August for the 4th time. We tried CRB last year, and while we enjoyed our stay, I didn't like the food court as much - not nearly as much to offer, the pool area seemed smaller and the quiet pools had more of a run-down appearance.

I also didn't care for how the check-in area for CBR was so far removed from the rest of the resort. I like the way PO-R is set up with the check-in, food court, restaurant, general store, arcade all in the group of main buildings and just a stone's throw from the main pool area.

Maybe it's because this was the first Disney resort we stayed at and because of that, it's become our favorite. I just know that when I made my latest reservation, I felt like we were going "home".

Thanks for all your help!!

We decided on the POR-R seemed like it probably was the best one to keep our family and Grandma and Grandpa happy. Also the boat to DD was a big plus. I booked it last night and was able to get the FL resident price as MIL & boyfriend live in Flordia. Only 2.5 months to go!!

Thanks again,

Allison
