We're scheduled to go on our honeymoon right now at Disney's Hilton Head Resort... but since we got engaged at Disney (right in front of the castle) we're now thinking about going there on our honeymoon and of course, getting those neat lil mickey and minnie groom and bride hats haha

Which Moderate resort would be best? We're thinking Coronado Springs and we would be on the dining plan if that makes a difference.

tks!

Definitely CSR. My DW and I love this resort. You'll have a great time! CSR also has a full room service menu just in case. Plus being on the dining plan, you won't have to worry about the automatic 10% tip that some guests do not like at the Pepper Market. Plus CSR is the only mod to have a spa, salon and gym (free for guests).

I second the CSR!! We went there on our honeymoon in 2-2004. It was awesome and I couldn't have asked for better!!! :)

Good Luck!!! I went over the same question for 9 months before our disneymoon. After hours of researching, we came up with CSR, than CBR, than POFQ. Well, I can tell you that CBR is beautiful, very Caribbean feeling. :goodvibes We ended up getting a great nurses rate at The Dolphin and changed all our plans around. We were going to do a split stay there and at POFQ. Something made me change my mind 5 days before we were to leave for our wedding in Palm Beach. I switched to WL, it was about 75.00 more a night. I was worth every penny, beautiful! But, we did end up going over and looking at POFQ and POR. We were sooooo glad that we did not stay there. It was just not the atmosphere that we had expected. We are going back to CSR for our anniversary....DH is reading this over my shoulder as I write and is in total shock!! :rotfl: Haven't quite shared that with him yet. :teeth: I would do plenty of research and find the one that has theming you'd both enjoy. The CBR is very pretty, but very spread out. The main pool is pretty small also. The rooms are nice and quiet. The POFQ and POR just wasn't our 'cup of tea'. When I go on vacation, I want to go on vacation. Their theming seemed too much like home. The CSR looks beautiful. Very romantic and exotic. I hope you have a wonderful disneymoon!!! We are celebrating our one month anniversary today! We got the mickey groom hat and minnie bridal headband, but wore them just twice. They were uncomfortable. The grooms hat is made of felt~~very hot and sweaty. The head band hurt a little bit. We got a lot of congratulations though. We did wear free honeymoon buttons that guest services gave us. They are very cute and have minnie and mickey in bridal attire on them. Be sure to get them. We got so many congratulations and recieved lots of comps. Congratulations!!!! When is the wedding????

I had to chuckle when you said POFQ and POR were too much like home. We live in the Southwest and previously in the Northwest. For that reason, CSR seems way too much like we were still at home and when living in the NW we got that feeling from the WL.

I think it depends on what you are looking for in a resort and the atmosphere you want. We like the POFQ, especially at night. The cobblestone streets and faint street lights really give one that romantic feeling. Plus if you take the carriage ride, the clop..clop of the horses is pretty neat. We also like the walk from the POFQ to the POR along the river. Very pleasant ... just the right distance. Grab an ice cream or piece of cake at the food court and then stroll back -- in the early evening and after dark it is so-o-o-o cool. Finally, the boat ride to DTD is really nice, is it isn't too cold. It is a nice change. And, if you like the nightlife that POFQ is close to Pleasure Island and DTD/West side.

The CSR is also a convention hotel and seeing people in "business attire" brings back those work thoughts. So, we prefer the POFQ. But, there are lots of people who love the CSR. I'm sure wherever you stay it will be magical. After all, it will be your honeymoon. I know ours was magical almost 25 years ago in Seattle, WA-- as I'm sure yours will be --especially since you will be at Disney. Sending tons of pixie dust your way. :wizard:

DW and I were considering POFQ, but decided for the extra $$$ that WL was more to our liking. We were very pleased and would be going back for our anniversary this year, but decided to try AKL this trip.

A tip... the ear hats are nice, but somewhat impractical for rides and stuff like that. DW went to an embroidery shop and had ball caps made... hers was white with "BRIDE" in vlack on the front and our date in black on the back. Mine was black and had "GROOM" in white on the front and the date in white on the back.

We got a lot of compliments, and the payoff was when we stopped in at a local travel expo and one of the agents who had been at WDW at the same time said, "You're the hat people!"

That's true, guest from the southwest US or California see this type of architecture all too often and don't want to vacation in it. But for me, being from the NE, WL doesn't appeal to me.

thanks everyone for your help so far... so far we're still leaning towards CSR

the wedding is May 13th, 2006 (her birthday too haha) and honeymoon/disneymoon will be May 14-20 or 21st

CONGRATS and good luck!! Have a great trip!

::MickeyMo DBF and I love the mansion rooms at POR. It was so calm and peaceful and we enjoyed walking along the river at night. ::MinnieMo

dcibrando... our wedding is May 13th 2006, as well! Our Disneymoon is May 15 - May 28! 13 Nights... We're trying to pull of the POLY. Ouch. :)

WOW COOL! Congrats! Maybe we'll see ya there... :) I can't afford the poly :( but I think we'll have fun at CSR if that's what we choose

the Poly for 13 nights - must be rich.... :teeth: :earseek:

I happen to prefer POR - and yes I am from the South - but I still love the Mansions, the AB isn't too bad either.

POFQ was once descriptive as how NO, LA would love to be...

it just depends upon what you want.

although I will freely admit that CSR has the best pool hands down.

POR has the best night time entertainment. or did? I think Bob is still there Wed-Sun nights????

being able to take the Boat to DD is pretty nice too. :cheer2:

For our honeymoon we booked at POR and I requested the mansions. When we checked in, our room was in the Alligator Bayou. At first I was sorry, but just for a few moments! It was a corner room, with king-size bed, really spacious and cozy. It was fantastic walking to the main building in the morning or in the evening, strolling among small ponds, bushes, trees... veeery romantic! I strongly recommend it!

Whatever hotel you choose, it will be fantastic :-)

My vote is defintely CSR for all of the previous reasons listed.

Some advice on the Mickey ears:
There are 2 types for the Bride. One is a white hat w/ a veil and the other one is a headband w/ iridescence sequence on the ears and a veil. I think the headband is sooooo much prettier. So make sure you see them both before you choose.

Another vote for CSR. We also honeymooned there in 98. We were treated like royalty. The Maya Grill is a nice restaurant to have a quiet dinner for 2. Let us know what you decide. :goodvibes

Not rich by any means. :rotfl: But in DIRE need of a vacation! We've been saving for ages. I figure I probably won't get another vacation for several years, and I've worked my rear end off for this!!! :sunny: We might have to switch resorts anyway, if we can't get a decent discount, but heck, if downgrading means WL, I'm still happy!!! :Pinkbounc I have to say, though, CSR was awfully appealing to us when we were considering mods! I know you will have a great honeymoon!!! :bride: :groom:

When ever anyones asks what mod resort I alway say Dixie Landings, opps I mean PORS. (familes, couples, honey moon, doesn't mater good for all.) Romantic, lovley, fun, good pool. It was the very 1st mod we ever stayed at and we just feel in love with the place.

Next would be CRS, then POFQ and last CBR. We just weren't impressed while we were there. There was a number of reasons for it, but it might have just been that trip. ;)

One word of advice for CSR, there is a lot of conventioners there. This could be a good or bad thing. Good, not as many people going to the parks, less crowds on busses, less familes with kids running around ( I love kids, I am one of those familes, but for honeymooners ;) )

However the resort doesn't have that "everyone else is on vacation at the happiest places on earth" feeling sometimes. For me people walking around with cell phones clip boards and name tags Dr. so and so really bugged me at 1st. I was working at a hosptial and was so stressed out. I really needed to get away from it all and it didn't help. By the end of the week I was able to ignore them pretty well and mostly made fun of the poor saps at WDW, but having to spend the day at meetings. It really depends on the current convention. Also we had an issue checking in and our room not being ready. The only resort we have ever had that problem with. (because of the convetnion also starting that day.)
