Which moderate resort for Disneymoon??

I am new here and planning my Disney honeymoon for November. We had originally planned to go to Jamaica, but changed our mind about a month ago and the Disney planning began! We are way more excited about Disney!

We can't afford to stay in a deluxe resort (which would really be the ultimate honeymoon!) so moderate will have to do. :) And since I have waited so long to book the resort, my original want, Coronada Springs, says its booked for our week.

So now I'm having a hard time deciding which moderate resort would be the best. PORS, POFQ, or Carribbean Beach?? Any suggestions, tips?

I have only been to Disney once myself and we stayed out of the parks. So I have no idea!

I would say POFQ.

Its a great resort. We love it there. We are DVC members and stay at DVC resorts now, but PO are our favorite moderate resorts.

They seem nicer and not as big as CBR.

I second POFQ! Great location, small resort size, boat ride to DTD, horse drawn carriage rides...great pool & bar...plus, we honeymooned in New Orleans...so we are kind of partial to POFQ anyway...it's our home resort and we stay there whenever we can...in fact, we'd be staying there in 47 days except FD wasn't offered there, so we are making our first stop at POR...but I'm sure will be spending time at POFQ, at least at the pool, kids love the dragon slide!

Have fun!

Third vote for POFQ! We have stayed there a couple times and have absolutely nothing bad to say about it! It's very quiet too which may be nice for a Disneymoon. You can hop right on the boat anytime you want to head to DTD which is great and buses have never been a problem for us!

Congratulations! :goodvibes

Another vote for POFQ. It's smaller than the others, which gives it a more intimate feel.

Thanks for the replies!

I've been looking again at the deluxe resorts....and I'm a really bad decision maker!

Would it be worth the extra $1000 to stay at the Animal Kingdom lodge or Boardwalk?

So why not go to CBR and stay in the Jamaica section??!!

CBR is a great resort for a honeymoon. Nice and quiet with lush tropical surroundings. Plus lots of quiet/secluded areas on the beaches and on Caribbean Cay.

I think that depends on your situation. What would $1000 mean to you? Are you a young couple starting out? Or an older couple with established savings? How badly do you want to stay at AKL or BW?

When we got married, we had very little to work with, but now, $1000 isn't THAT BIG of a deal to us. All this being said, we spent our honeymoon at POFQ and loved it! We're heading back for the third trip with our kids to POR. Everytime we take the boat to DTD, we point out our room (it was on a corner facing the river) and everyone waves. :)

BC is quite a bit more than AKL. You may want to think about WL for a deluxe. cheaper than most deluxes and a bit more romantic than AKL. Just dont get a std view!!! get at least a woods view.....

if a moderate... id go PORFQ w/ river or garden view or CBR but not a pirate room..CBR will give you that tropical feel. very large resort w/ some longer walks...myself..id pick PORFQ cause of the jazz bar and use of its sister resort POR. horse drawn carraige rides. evening stroll along river. good lounge and food at POR. PORFQ has food court only.

I agree with Mcd cbr is awesome and has that Carribean feel you will love it. On the other hand if you have the money I would do boardwalk or beach club or yatch club.

Enjoy make sure you get a meal plan

Another vote for POFQ! You might want to take a nice horse drawn carriage at night.. I think that's kind of romantic! and if you have time, take a nice stroll along the Sassagoula River and then take the ferry boat down to Downtown Disney. Congratulations on your wedding!! :)

We spent our honeymoon at POFQ. Me and DH loved it so much we returned for our 1 year anniversary too. It's small, the grounds are nice. I had no complaints.

Caribbean Beach! It was my first thought when you said you were going to originally go to Jamaica. It's an awesome resort, great theme, and very romantic. You can take a stroll by the lake or take a boat ride. It's a great resort.

And as far as if the deluxe resorts are worth it, it's really up to you. Is $1000 extra worth seeing animals from your room? Or being walkable to Epcot?

I stayed at POFQ on my Disneymoon and I loved it!

If you can afford to pay for an upgrade to a king room with a river view, I would do that. We did this instead of staying at a deluxe because it was still less expensive.

One of the benefits of the river view rooms is that they are in the back of the resort (which isn't too far from the front...it's not a huge place) and tend to be a little on the quieter side. Plus, the little boat that takes you to Downtown Disney is a great way to relax.

Whatever you choose, best wishes on your upcoming wedding and have a fantastic time in the World!

Congrats! I just got back from my honeymoon in May :)

Originally, we thought we could only afford moderate too. So I had asked on here what everyone felt was best, the top answer was POFQ! So I booked POFQ at rack rate, no discounts.

And then the Disney fairy came!! Boardwalk was offered at 40% off room rate for our dates, it was only $840 more for 10 nights!!!! We save our pennies and went with boardwalk.

I say book POFQ like I do and hope that the Disney fairy blesses you with some pixie dust like I got. Either way POFQ is a beautiful resort!!!! pixiedust:

Our fav is CSR. We like it more than the deluxes as the ground are beautiful, the rooms are modern with nice down comforters, same tolietries as the deluxe resorts, romantic hammocks to lay in by the lake, and the awesome digsite pool.

Actually we didn't stay at French quarter, we stayed at riverside. It was awesome and its a great moderate resort.

Agreed :thumbsup2! We love CBR and if you were thinking Jamaica I would assume you enjoy a tropical setting. CBR is gorgeous, very quiet and as mcd2735 said there are some really nice secluded and romantic areas on property.
