Which moderate resort did you choose?

I picked Port Orleans French Quarter because I'd heard it was beautiful and that its small size made it more manageable than other Moderates. Now, after seeing them both, I much prefer Port Orleans Riverside for theming. But we did have a car when we toured them, and I can see how walking out to your room at POR would be more of a hike than at POFQ.

For our room block, we chose Caribbean Beach due to it's proximity to our events. Also, for us, Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside would be too much like being at home. (We're in Louisiana). I couldn't imagine going to Disney to go to New Orleans...:rotfl: I'm sure it's a lovely spot:goodvibes , it's just not high on my list.

BTW...I hated doing the room block thing. When we first got ours, I put it away for a week, just dreading it. Then I finally said if I don't do this, I won't get a contract and I won't have a VR at Disney. So I bit the bullet and did it. :rotfl2:

I've chosen Caribbean Beach. The grounds are great--just like being at a Caribbean resort. Granted, a large portion of my guests are originally from the Caribbean, and most of them, as well as myself and DF live in South FL, so it's not like we don't see Caribbean Beach-esque settings all the time, but I don't know--we still appreciate the tropical look on vacation, despite living in it every day! :lmao:

We choose POR- we stayed there, the only moderate we have stayed at, but we really liked it. It is big, but peaceful, nice walking paths between the buildings. Pool facitlies were good, several quiet pools.

First I wanted to say I am a huge Disney Fan and have never experienced a bad Disney Resort, I arrived at my Disney Port Orleans French Quarter resort on Dec 31st to check in I had reservation for a non-smoking King size room, so after getting checked in I go to the room to find two double beds so I figured they made a mistake so I went to the lobby to get switched and they tell me they are sorry but that is all they have I had my reservations since March 5th, 2007! My wedding was Jan 2nd, 2008 so then we move all of the luggage to Riverside get to that room the manager told me the rooms would be the same THEY AREN'T it smelled like smoke (I am allergic to) and it looked very outdated and the bed was hard as a rock so I then went back to French Quarter bags moved a second time bags and all, back to the first room, was told I could come down to the office the next day and change to a king size room! No apologize or anything and did I mention they did the same thing to the guy beside me checking in! We went out for New Years Eve and the next morning I go to switch rooms and I am told I will need to sit in the lobby for five hours because I have to get out of the room to switch to the next room PROBLEM! I have someone passed out in the bed in my room ! I would think they would have had the king size room ready NOPE they didn't finally we move to king room three hours later (move bags again) we go to leave to enjoy the parks and I check the door to make sure it is locked and it doesn't LOCK!!! Had to call maintenance and sit with the door until it was fixed another three hours of my day gone all they do is give me a fast pass and take one night off as a discount now remind you I am getting married the same week, and they don't say sorry either I recommend pop century they had a nice resort cheaper and friendly people! I will not go back to Port Orleans again.

We picked POR because we think our guests will like that the most of all the moderates. Most of our guests have never been to WDW so I really don't think it would have mattered which we picked.

We picked POFQ. We like the size of that as compared to POR - FQ is smaller and more manageable. We are also planning on doing a Saturday night get together in the Scat's Cat Lounge which is in the lobby of the POFQ. We go and listed to Elliott Dyson every time we are in WDW and he plays there Wednesday through Saturday nights. Most of our guests are staying there and we figured this would be a great meeting place. Even if our guests are doing something else Saturday - they need to come back to their hotel that night. He plays from 9:00pm to midnight so it is a great place for a "stop by and say hello".

i chose pofq for our guests and they LOVED it! a lot of my dh's family is from nola, but they no longer live there, so it was nice for them. they even had beignets for breakfast!

We chose the Port Orleans Riverside because we stayed there last October and really enjoyed it.

The Caribbean is a nice resort too.

I chose POR. It was the first resort we stayed at as a couple and it is so sweet to think back to that trip and see how far our relationship has grown in the past 15 months.

The resort is very beautiful and peaceful in my opinion. I love the atmosphere and taking the boat to Downtown Disney.

On a side note, we only chose two resorts (a mod and a value) since our guests have to use the charter buses for our reception and I didn't want them to be on the buses for so long etc.

We chose pofq,
df and I drove to disney a month ago and visited all the moderates to decide.
we loved the theme of pofq and it wasnt as busy as some of the other hotels.
Coronado springs was really cool though.. its the newest moserate hotel i believe... and its the "showiest" moderate in my opinion(alot of dining options and a night club type place)
we just wanted something more intimate..
and you can horseback ride at pofq  and nightime carriage rides...did i mention i love horses.

I chose POR as well. I like theming, the boat to DTD, and the size compared to some of the other moderates. Also, I have a couple of families of five and Alligator Bayou allows you to have a third child on the trundle bed. I wanted to give them a cheaper option than a deluxe.

I was going to say the same exact thing. If you have a family of 5 people then definitely go with Port Orleans Riverside because of the trundle bed. Honestly though, your guests wont be in their room very much so try not to stress about which resorts to pick

We went with the Caribbean, because we thought the islands were pretty cool, and our theme is sorta tropical. However, they are redoing the main pool until Sept. 2008, which prompted some of our guests to go with our value resort instead. They have six other pools, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but just FYI in case you pick CBR and people complain.
