I am considering taking my DD for a long weekend just the two of us. We normally stay at a deluxe, but I want this to be a budget trip. I am leaning towards CSR or POFQ. Which would you choose and why??

I can't help with the Moderates, but my 5 year old son and I went by ourselves (wonderful daddy stayed home with the infant twins!) and stayed at Pop Century. We had a great time and he *loved* Pop. Being able to get Icees in his refillable mug was a huge bonus.:p

Well I haven't stayed at CSR but I have stayed at POFQ when my DD was 6. POFQ is a great moderate, especially if your DD is young. The resort is small enough so walking around is no problem. There is one bus stop at POFQ and it is convenient to all buildings - it also used to be the first pick-up and drop off before going to POR.

Your DD will love the pool area and all the whimsical statues. You will enjoy the boat ride to DTD. You can even just ride it down and back for some nice relaxing sightseeing.

The food court is good and you also have the option of using the food court or other facilities at POR. The food court at POFQ is probably more reasonable in price than at CSR.

I think POFQ is a great choice for a girls long weekend.:jester:

Another vote for PO! I think either side is great. WE stayed at both a couple of times.... DD loved it. I actually think they both are the best value on property...especially POFQ!

I would take her to PQFQ

I think the pool there is the most kid friendly for sure.

CSR!! Check ouy my CSR website for the reaons why and some pics, links and info.

I would go with the French Quarter. One, it is smaller. We stayed at CSR when my son was almost 3, and we had a LONG walk from the Ranchos to the Pepper Market. We also felt that it was not as "Disney", and didn't hold the same appeal to our son as some of the other resorts do. :)

I'd also vote for POFQ, mostly because it is smaller. I think the pool area is better themed for a "child's" taste, and the foodcourt is also better suited to travelling with a youngster.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I am still trying to decide on whether or not to take the trip. It is so hard not to go when it is cheaper to go to WDW than other destinations nearby. We already have the APs, AZZ code (and hoping for AP rate), plus dirt cheap airfare, how can I not go?

I don't think any of the moderates will really make that big of an impact on a 3 year old. I think All Star Movies would be the place if you are concerned with how your 3 year old will like the resort.

The pool is a major concern b/c she loves to swim. Does that make any difference? Do any of the moderates have zero entry?

I don't think you will go wrong either way. But, if swimming and play is a big concern -- the Dig Site at CSR is fabulous and they have a really nice kids pool too! The play area there is perfect for a three year old.

I believe the only zero entry pools are at AKL, the Poly and the BC.

Of course, if swimming is the real goal -- Stormalong Bay at the BC/YC cannot be beat.
