A quick trip in December and we want to keep it reasonable. Normally we stay at deluxes, but are looking towards a moderate this trip. I have my eye on Coronado Springs. Any other suggestions?

TIA

:goodvibes I would go with POR.

but first you might try Pop Century - you are old enough to remember and appreciate alot of the stuff there.

look around the place - it will definitely make you laugh. :rotfl: :teeth:

Everyone's opinions are different, but...we stayed at Coronado Springs in September and I really didn't like it. I did not like the way the food court was run. You get seated by a hostess and a waitress brings you drinks, you go pick out your food and you pay on your way out after you are done eating. The thing I like about food courts is you don't have to worry about tipping anyone...Lord knows you do that enough at the other restaurants. But, you are automatically charged a gratuity. I don't remember the percentage.

Also...there are a lot of people walking around in business suits because it is the convention center. I didn't like that because I work with people in suits all day...when I am on vacation I don't like that vibe.

But that is only my opinion. I have heard from people that absolutely love it there.

If it were my choice, I would stay at Port Orleans Riverside. We stayed there in in October of 2004 and absolutely loved it. Next year we are trying out the Carribean Beach Resort. Can't wait!!

Definitely CSR. My DW and I love this resort. You'll have a great time!

:cool1: I would go with CSR all the way. We are not in our 40's but CSR is a great resort regardless of age. They have a spa, hair salon and gym. Guests can use the gym at no charge. No other mod has these. Also, CSR has a full room service menu. My DH and I used it on a few occasions. You can even get alcohol and special desserts and fancy chocolates.

The pool bar is great, try the margaritas and nachos. The main pool area usually has available lounge chairs because many of the guests are at conventions. The buses stay less crowded for the same reasons.

I think you will really enjoy yourselves at CSR.

I am knocking on 40's door and DH is early 40's. I would pick CSR for a couples trip just because of Buzz2001's nighttime pictures - looks romantic to me! CSR also looks like it has the best holiday decorations from what I have seen from pictures. The hot tub looks great too. The full room service menu may also appeal to a couples only vacation!

I would not recommend POFQ. I know a lot of people like it but IMHO the grounds are okay - I do not like the pool with the big dragon. Not sure if there are quiet pools. The only thing I feel POFQ has going for it is that it is the 1st bus stop. Did not like the decor in the food court area. Just didn't appeal to me at all.

POR is very nice. I would recommend there. The grounds are beautiful. I would request a mansion building. They have pretty courtyards like the Casitas in CSR. Stayed there 12/00 and the holiday decorations are okay - nothing to write home about if you ask me.

Have not stayed at CBR - my sister did and said she liked POR mansions better.

Good luck with your decision!

But ther foodcourt at CSR has much better food choices then the other moderates because of the the folks in the suits. I think the grautity was 10%, not that big of a deal. If you are on the dining plan the foodcourt at CSR is considered a counter service credit meal. A really great bang for your buck.

We stayed for 10 days there this past June and I would not hesitate to stay there again. We stayed where the suits stay, the Casitas, and you hardly notice them. As a matter of fact I saw very few suits, mostly slacks and golf shirts. Many had their families with them and those folks were going to the parks. It is a very pretty location and our second choice for a moderate.

Port Orleans French Quarter is our first choice. The size is perfect and the location on the river is very nice to. The sister hotel Port Orleans Riverside is much larger and much louder. POR would be our second choice.

CBR, cheap construction. Would never stay there again. Thank goodness Disney learned from that mistake and put more money into constructing better looking moderate resorts.

Another vote for PO Riverside, although Fr. Quarter and CSR do interest me....I've been to CBR, nice and loved POR.

I don't really think you could lose though....after all it's Disney!

That's exactly what I was feeling. But after seeing Buzz's photos, I think my mind is made up. CSR it is!! Looks pretty. Now I'm off t o find the best prices. Wish me luck.

I read your posts after you made your decision but I would say you've absolutely made the right choice! We just got back and loved it. I'd definetly go back. The Pepper Market isn't my favorite but I didn't have a problem. Loved the Casitas area. Here's a link to my CSR pics.

I know you are already convinced, but another vote for CSR here!

Port Orleans French Quarter. I stayed there and had a wonderful time. The resort is small, not a lot of walking, the rooms are charming and a decent size, you have the boat to DTD at your disposal, the atmosphere is romantic. You can use Riversides larger eating options (as well as the counter service at your resort). There are buggy rides, an adorable gift shop and not far to walk to the buses. While you share buses with Riverside, you are first on and first off so its not that bad. It's a beautiful little moderate. I highly recommend it. If I couldn't do a deluxe, I would go back. A corner room with a river view is what I had and it was wonderful.

It is a great resort. Smaller than other moderates and very charming. It was great for a family but we say a lot of couples there. THUMBS way up!

We're happy with Coronado Springs. Not a big Pepper Market fan, but to each his own. You can avoid the service charge if you take your food to go, either back to your room or just outside to the patio.

I guess there were people in suits there, but I don't look at other people when I'm on vacation -- I'm in a world of my own! Seriously, I don't remember ever once thinking "there's a poor conventioner, and here I am on vacation."

Two thumbs up here for CSR. I think out of all the mods I like this one the best.

I think CSR and CBR are both enticing in their own way.

I just want to say that I really like CBR. I like the pastel colors. I think the rooms are very cheerful. But what I like most about the place is all those palm trees and lizards. I really feel like I'm in Florida when I stay there. :sunny:

I know the OP has chosen the CSR, and it's a great place. Just, CBR takes a lot of flak on the internet, and I just wanted one little voice out there defending it. (It's my favorite mod.)
