We are currently booked at ASMo but there is a chance that we either rent DVC points or upgrade to a mod. My first choice for mod is POFQ but it seems there is nothing available for our dates with my 30% off pin.
:confused3What would your choice be?

We prefer Riverside over French Quarter so it really is a matter what you are looking for in a resort. How many are in your family and what ages? That will help with opinions.

There are 2 of us, DH and myself. Early 30's. I was thinking Riverside as well. It seems the 3 mods (other then POFQ) are all about the same size.

We really enjoy CBR, went there first time in 06 for our honeymoon and had a blast, have been back 3 other times. We enjoy the Caribbean feel makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean with the music, landscaping, beaches, and the main pool area is awesome! Each Island has its own private pool and laundry room, the gift shop is really nice and the food court is your average food court. The size of this resort is large, but that appeals to us b/c its more spread out so not so compacted with people like other smaller resorts!
:thumbsup2

I love POR but agree that Coronado Springs Resort is awesome. It's hard to believe it's a moderate with all it has to offer. :goodvibes

Here's another vote for CBR. For all the same reasons as Julie711.

CSR! With 2 adults, it has more of a deluxe feel.

POR is a great resort, so beautiful. I like it better than POFQ. But honestly with 2 adults, i'll jump on the wagon and recommend Coronado as well. I booked it for my August trip. When i was researching, i couldnt believe what it included....free wifi, thats huge in disney! The pool is massive, ditto for the waterslide if that means anything to you. Bar & snackbar/food by the pool, room service, gym and spa/salon onsite, the shampoos/toiletries etc you get are the same ones the deluxe gets. The breakfast & lunch at the pepper market are buffets (with a QS credit). What a great value! They have surrey/reg bike rentals. The grounds are so gorgeous as are the rooms. just awesome.

I would vote for POR also. I didn't care for CSR. It felt more like a hotel than a resort to me, as it caters to the convention crowd. Plus, POR has a better food court. POR is very relaxing, lots of activities, the pool bar and regular bar are great and it has easy access to DTD so you can get to the nightclubs easily. That would be my choice.

Let it be known I'm only comparing the two I think are worthy. I personally wouldn't choose CBR, or POFQ. Sorry to dis those that love them 2.

Also both times I went to these were during Jersey weeks in Nov.

CSR- Resort Grounds: The theming here is really nice. All 3 areas are unique to its section and very well maintained. A nice walk around the whole resort is roughly 15-20 minutes or so.

POR- Resort Grounds: The theming here is also very nice. Just a little different. Southern feel. Both gorgeous grounds though. I'd say just a tad longer to walk around the grounds, but a pleasant stroll again.

CSR- Rooms: Stayed in Casitas 4 which had renovated rooms & was a perfect location. Queen Size beds too.

POR- Rooms: Stayed in Magnolia Mansions. Also Beautifully redone, w/ queen size beds as well.

CSR- Pool The main Pool is awesome. Really nice slide. Plenty of lifeguards on duty. Never Ever, ever crowded. I think the most amount of people there while we stayed was maybe 20. The quieter pools are very nice too.

POR- Pool: This Pool Is very nice as well. Slide is just a tad smaller than CSR but equally nice. the pool always had plenty of people around , but never felt like overcrowded. You always had plenty of chaise loungers to sit at. a lot more kids it seemed too. quieter pools were just that very quiet..

CSR Food Court: aka. pepper market. I know not many people like the idea of being escorted to you seat, but literally u wait maybe 5 secs, honestly. Never is it packed, the market itself has a nice array of food too. A small gratuity ( maybe $5 ) should cover your server.

POR- Food Court: Although the food selections here are awesome, the way it's set up is like the values. And yes the seating area is bigger, It was always busy, no matter what time of day. Mornings are Chaotic though. Worse lines here than the darn parks...LoL

CSR- Bus Service: The best hands down: Although there are multiple stops, It seems most people grab it at the main one, to go to the parks. Never di we wait for more than 1 bus which were sooo frequent. NEVER did we have to come close to standing either, Going to the parks or returning..

POR- Bus Service: This one was just Eh. Imho. At least heading out to the parks in the morning. I think we waited for an extra bus 3 days going to parks. Coming back from DTD we waited for 3 buses, & forget coming back from Fantasmic. That was like 7 buses... But when we do return, the west stop ( i think) was very close to our mansion, which was nice.
Also POR, Has the Boat ride to DTD, which is a pleasant ride & convenient.

I didn't eat at either of the 2 TS restaurants here, but have heard very good things about both. Also POFQ is just a smaller version of POR, but the New Orleans theming & closer feel, just didn't do it for me. Also the pool is a lil on the kiddish side. CBR I'm just not a big fan of. Layout, Theming, buses. The pool is good though. If I want to get a tropical theme ,then I'll go to the islands, not here. Thats just my $.02. Sorry. Don't mean to offend all of the CBR lovers

My suggestion, ( although its a hard one ) would probably got to CSR.Especially w/ no kids involved too. It's a convention hotel , so it's never too crowded.

Either one you pick I'm sure you won't be disappointed.. Have a fun time choosing and once again...Sorry for Rambling here. LoL

Another one for CSR. :goodvibes
I honestly thought I would not like this resort. :sad2: 1) Because I live in Texas and see this sort of decor all the time, 2) I thought it would feel too much like being in my home state and not enough of a vaction "feel."
You may be asking, 'then why the heck did she book here?' LOL

I booked because of all the good things about it, recently renovated, and beautifully I might add :lovestruc, queen sized beds (the only mod to have them at the time) and because of all the amenities for a mod.

Hands down, this is an amazing resort! It's not too small not too big, beautiful well kept grounds and an amazing pool. Love the food court, it's nice to be waited on if you need anything. Love, love, love, the food court atmosphere, so pretty.

Hope this helped some. :thumbsup2

No need to apologize for rambling, this is the type of post I enjoy. Loves of info. The reason I like POFQ so much is because of how small it is. I like to grab my coffee early in the morning and not have to hike for it. The size of both of the resorts is what worries me.

POFQ Isn't horrible. Let me regress. It's just so claustraphobic like for me. The bldgs. being soo close, and the streets area being small and stuff. I know it's supposed to be like nawleans, but just not for me. Also the pool seemes a lil kiddish with that dragon. Food courts were the same roughly, Bus is slighlty better than POR. If you were able to get Magnolia Bend It's just the perfect location. Close to everything. I mean Everything. They did have awesome Beignets, though..LoL

The beignets are worth the walk!

I didnt care for CSR. It somehow didnt feel very 'disney' to me. I guess it was because it was a convention center too. Also I didnt care for the food either. I could stay at CBR. Bigger rooms and the decor was nice.

Great thread! The POR and CSR are the two mods we were trying to decide between. We have older kids (by Disney standards) ages 10-15 and I don't want them to feel like it's all kiddie-ish... I agree that from the pictures I've seen, the CSR pool seems nicer and so do the grounds.

The last several years we have stayed deluxe but decided to save a little this year and go with a moderate. We chose CSR because with the amenities, it seemed similar to a deluxe resort. I also love the Casitas section of the resort and hopefully will get that area when we go in May. POR is also nice, especially with the boat to DTD but I did not care for the food court or the buses sharing with POFQ.

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay no matter what resort you choose!

I am also trying to decide on a moderate resort, traveling with 2 adults- 29 and 30. I have narrowed it down to POR and CSR. From what I've read, it has been a couple of years since CSR had any refurbishments. Has anyone stayed here recently? Are the rooms beginning to show wear and tear? Also, from the pictures, the lighting in the room at CSR is flourescent. Does this make it feel sterile or office-building-like?? Finally, I've seen some pictures of CSR rooms that have a wooden crown molding instead of a wall-paper border...is this the business-club-level building or are more buildings furnished with this? Thanks!

Csr was redone. We were in casitas 4 . Perfect location. Queensize beds too:love:

:rotfl::rotfl:Hello fellow Texan! I had the exact same response the first time I looked at CSR. Then to top it off, the first time I stayed there we had a bad experience with some obnoxious drunk conventioneers in the pool. I swore I'd never go back, but thanks to the encouragement of a couple of fellow DISers decided to give CSR another try. Boy, am I glad I did! I've had seven perfect visits there since then. It is my favorite resort (along with POFQ). My husband prefers CSR hands down though. I go to WDW several times a year and have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice and like to change things up, so have stayed at all four moderates within the last 1 1/2 years. Consistently over the last few years CSR has had the best bus service and the most comfortable beds.
