Hi Eveyone!

I need some advice please. My family and I,(DH42, DS9, DD4 and I, age 40 (while I am there! Yoo Hoo!) We are checking in on Tues., June 30th to CSR and our first day at the parks in the next day. We wanted to have time to unpack, swim in the pool and go to DTD. That is the plan for the first day. Here are my dining reservations for the rest of our trip:

Tues., 6/30 - Dinner at the new T-Rex restaurant in DTD (I still need to make dining ressies for this for about 7 or 8 pm that night. As this restaurant isn't on the DDP, I will have to pay for this OOP).

Weds., 7/1 - 6:35 pm at O'Hana's at the Poly for dinner

Thurs., 7/2 - 11:00 am at Sci-Fi at DHS for lunch

Fri., 7/3 - 6:00 pm at Teppan Edo in Japan World Showcase for dinner

Sat., 7/4 - 6:45 pm at CRT for dinner for my 40th Birthday! YEAH! :dance3:

Sun., 7/5 - 6:35 pm at O'Hana's at the Poly for dinner (I am trying to get a later ressie here as we will be at DHS for the day and don't want to leave too early. We would like 8 or 9 pm so we can finish and watch Wishes on the beach. And, yes, I had to book this one twice as it is my DH favorite! :sad2:)

Mon., 7/6 - 9:15 am at the Storybook Princess Breakfast at Akershus in Norway World Showcase

Mon., 7/6 - 7:00 pm at the Garden Grill for dinner

Tues., 7/7 - 8:05 am at the Crystal Palace for breakfast

Tues., 7/7 - 6:00 pm at 1900 Park Fair at the Grand Floridian

I am thinking to pay for the lunch OOP at Sci-Fi as that is pretty cheap as a Disney meal goes. What is your suggestion for the other OOP meal? I just haven't had the time to sit and crunch the numbers yet and was hoping to get help from my Disboards friends.

What do you advise? :confused3

Thanks so much,
Gina

Then I would look at the menus and decide what you might like at the different restaurants, and see which works out the cheapest, and pay OOP for that. I would guess that Crystal Palace breakfast would be cheapest.

You only have one meal that is a 2TS credit requirement (CRT). I'm not sure why you are asking about a second OOP meal.

I do agree with paying for SciFi. It will most likely be the least expensive of all your meals.

OK brain is turned on now.....I didn't read the dates you had.

Most likely paying OOP for one of the breakfasts would be your second choice.

Thanks for the help. That's what I thought too, about the breakfast. I am thinking the breakfast at Crystal Palace would be the cheapest. I knew that I had booked extra TS meals, but we love having that early TS ressie for Crystal Palace and getting into the MK so early in the AM. That is when I get pictures of my children in front of the castle with no one else around, so it is totally worth it!

Thanks again!

You may not need to pay for anything OOP, but plan on paying for CP that way. Once you are there something may happen and you decide or need to skip a TS meal so you cancel something. By waiting to pay OOP for a final day meal you save yourself the possibility of paying OOP for a meal that you didn't need to.

You can also avoid paying for a meal OOP by eating at your resort CS. The Pepper Market really feels like a TS meal, so you may also find you simply trade one of those TS meals for a nice CS meal at home one day. By the way those meals can be to go, so dinner or lunch at the pool is an option. :thumbsup2

We did that on our last trip. We were just too full to even think about another buffet bfast, so we used a CS credit and ate "at home" and avoided an OOP meal.

Septbaby - you are right. It seems that everytime we are there, we are too hot or too full to even think about another big meal.

This is our fourth time staying at CSR, so we know how good Pepper Market is! It is a must do for us everytime we stay! We have skipped a meal, and returned to the resort and gotten something to go from Pepper Market. I am just trying to count on us eating where the princesses are, as my almost 4 year old daughter is a princess in training!

Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't make the 'Ohana ADR beyond 8pm, because you never know how crowded it will be, or a delay to be seated. That gives you plenty of time to eat and make you way to the beach to watch Wishes.

And you might not be able to change your ADR time, considering it's such a popular place. There might not be any availability. Good luck though.

Actually, I would pay for CRT OOP and add on another more expensive meal on the DDP.

Sounds like lots of good food to be had, have you thought about adding the dining plan to your vacation? WE have done it both ways and will never go without the dining plan again, the first time we went we did not have the dining, I save everything so the next year that we went and got the free dining, I compared my reciepts and it was cheaper to buy the dining plan. This way if you buy the plan you don't have that to worry about. We get the regular dining plan and this is how we make it work, we use our snack credits for our breakfast, we go to starring rolls cafe or the bakery or just get a roll at our resort and bring our own drinks, we bring all our own snacks to take to the park, or you can get a refillable mug if you dont want to bring drinks with you and use that. We then use a counter service for lunch and a table service for dinner. We are quite stuffed by the time we leave the park and the long walk does us well. Whatever you choose I hope you have a wonderful time. If you go to www.allears.net you can go to the dining and click a link onto whats on the menues and see the pricing also.

I too would pay for CRT OOP that frees up 2 ts credits. So if you need to pay OOP for 2 meals that one will probably be cheaper then paying OOP for 2 and it frees up the same amount of credits. When I figured it out for breakfast it was the best way to go. Even with the more expensive diner it still seems like the best option.

We will be there at the end of June and have a similiar issue as well...

We have (in this order lol) kona dinner, akershus breakfast, crystal p lunch, chef m breakfast, 1900 pf dinner, sci fi, ohana and tusker house breakfast with donald.

I just added Kona today and have decided to pay oop for sci fi since i more than likely will not be eating there and dh will end up getting a burger ($12) and DD will get a kids meal ($8)...the baby will share with DH and perhaps Amanda will get an adult beverage...lol...either way it works out best to do it this way (for us at least)

Hope you have a great bday! We are going to be celebrating DD's 2nd while we are there :)

your best bet would be to pay OOP for a couter service or buffet. they tend to be less expensive.....

If the princesses are that important I would do those at the start of the trip. For a couple of reasons 1...added excitment, what a way to start things off. 2...it's a lot of food on the DDP and towards the end you might not want any more TS as you mentioned.

Really interesting thought....now I need to do the math to satisfy my curiousity.
