My DS is 2.5 and he has outgrown our stroller due to his height. I want to get a Maclaren to use for WDW trips, the zoo and the mall. I want something with a large seat that comfortably holds a taller child. I have never owned a Maclaren so any advice is appreciated. I am considering the Volo, the Triumph, the Quest and the Techno.

Thanks so much for any advice!!! :goodvibes

Techno all the way. It reclines fully and has a great suspension that is awesome for Disney (Animal Kingdom is particularly bumpy). It also has the largest shade. The Techno XLR has a higher weight limit than the regular Techno. I paid $160 for a used Techno on ebay last year.

I agree, go with the Techno. We had one with our daughter and loved it, till an airline broke it when she was 2yo. Now we have a Volo and if I hadn't gotten it on clearance for $19, I would never have paid $100 for it. It's no different than any umbrella stroller, just that it does steer a bit easier than our Jeep umbrella stroller. But it doesn't recline, which is not conducive to my son's nap, and has a small shade.

Thanks guys! I have been checking out the Technos. :thumbsup2 Do you think the Techno XLR is worth the extra money versus the Techno XT? Is the seat bigger on the XLR? :goodvibes

We are a family of 6 (4 dc) and we have gone through countless strollers over the years. My oldest is 12 so we have seen all manner of models! When we had our youngest I *thought* I had done my homework and gotten her a nice one but when it broke it was back to the drawing board. I had seen Maclaren strollers many times and considered them highly expensive and not in my price range as we live simply. I did know, however, that I was done buying one stroller after another that was junk and was ready to shell out the $$ required to get one that would last. So began my research;) I read and compared and took dd to the stores and tried out all of the strollers and made a list of my most desired things to have in a stroller. Most important to me were a high weight limit (I know she will be using this for years) and I wanted it to recline among a few other things.

I decided on the Maclaren Techno XLR. My dh was shocked at the price! I assured him that this was to be the last stroller we would need to buy her. We easily spent that and much more through the years buying one junk stroller after another! I snagged one up on Amazon with free shipping when it was on sale one day.

Love it!!!! Dd does too! She has cried in every single stroller we have ever put her in except this one. She has even fallen asleep in it on a few occasions and she has *never* (!!!) fallen asleep anywhere but in my arms! She actually fell asleep in it this past Monday while we were at a local water park and slept for 2 hours!

I would recommend this model to anyone!!

Thanks for the great recommendation mwse4tubbies. I am definitely sold on the Techno now thanks to everyone's help. Now for the hard part - to convince DH. Wish me luck!

Take your hubby to Babies R US and have him test it out! He will be hooked on the quality, manuverability, and not too mention ease of folding and storing as well as the fact that your little one will be able to use it for years to come. My DD is five and we still use her Volvo on outings. DS has a Quest and we love them. In my opinion they are the best strollers available here in the US.
Worth every penny:)

We had a Techno XT that we used with my son from birth to age 5. At that point it now has moved onto my friends baby. It's been in constant use since 2003. It looks a little downtrodden (we beat that thing up! - LOL), but still works like a charm. I loved that stroller. It flew on airplanes at least 10 times, did 6 (?) Disney trips, countless zoo trips, and miles and miles around our neighborhood (we live in an urban area where we walk most everywhere), and survived snow storms and rain storms and ice storms. It's been tucked under every restaurant table, into corners of busses, backs of cars, trains, everything. And yet it still rides on... :thumbsup2

Just bought a Techno XLR at Homegoods for 179.99 two days ago and LOVE it!!! Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it there. That being said we have also used the Quest on a previous trip and enjoyed that too. I'm using the XLR for our next trip--my 48lb son fit wonderfully in it! Happy shopping!

Squee!!!! Thanks so much! There is actually a HomeGoods less than a mile from my work so guess where I'm going on lunch break today? :cool1:

Thanks so much for posting! :goodvibes

If you don't find one at Homegoods, remember to check ebay as well. The tan one you posted above is on ebay for cheaper with free shipping as well. We have the quest ourselves and absolutely love it, and so does our DD.

I saw the one on Ebay too and I actually think it's the same seller as the store, so I will definitely get it on Ebay cheaper. :thumbsup2

I called HomeGoods and they have one left in the grey/orange combo. With tax it will be $191 or I can get the tan/red one on Ebay for $195. Decisions, decisions

As a Canadian on a quest to find an affordable second Mac... what is this HomeGoods? I am guessing from the looks of their website, they do not sell online - just in stores. Is this right? I think I might now go cry :sad2:

I do think they only sell online - so sorry.

I hit Homegoods on my lunch break and the only one they had left was a TechnoXT so I decided to pass and get the XLR on Ebay for only $3.00 more. They said they did have the XLRs but they sold really fast.

I pushed the TechnoXT around the store though and that thing is amazing! I can't believe how smooth the push it. I'm really excited about getting a Maclaren now.

I have Both...a Techno XT and a Quest... There is NO DOUBT that the Techno is the better stroller... I only got the quest cause it was a designer edition and I wanted...stupid yes... Go with a Techno:thumbsup2

Yep - I called the closest store to me (it's about a 3.5 hour drive), and unfortunately they didn't get any Maclarens. So, there goes that idea. I guess I'm back to eBay as well!

Aside from the overall "extra" features on the Techo XT - what do you find are the biggest difference between the Quest and TXT? I ask, since we've got the Techno XT and are seriously considering the Quest for our 2nd stroller for our older kiddo. I'm a little worried about the lower handles - since DH is 6'2" and he finds the TXT just right when on the highest setting. However, I am thinking I could push the Quest - since admittedly I'm much shorter!

I've never used a Techno, but we have a Triumph and a Quest. I don't notice that much difference in them. We have taken the Quest to WDW twice (because it's a pattern that stands out better than the Triumph). We loved it both times. Whichever one you get, no matter how unusual you think the pattern is, you will see at least a couple of others like it at WDW. We tie big bows of obnoxious bright ribbon on ours, so we can tell it apart and so others hopefully don't take it by mistake.
