I would like to have some suggestions for which Maclaren to purchase for DD5 who is about 50 lbs. DD5 doesn't need stroller anymore but I know she will need it after a long day at park since DS6Months will have one. This also means that we will use this stroller for this trip only.

I was originally planning to buy Maclaren Volo but am afraid that Volo is for max weight 45lbs. Did anyone fit your child weight more than 45 lbs in Volo?
Will DD5 be more comfortable at Maclaren Techno? My thought is if Volo is too small for her, I might as well spend the money buying her Techno. Any advices will be appreciated.

The Maclren Volo has a 55 lb. weight limit. I purchased one for my ds 6 for this trip. He normally would never ride in a stroller but this is the exception. He is a little tall for it, but he weighs 48 lbs and it is still easy to push. My thought is if you are going to use it later for your ds, then I would upgrade and get one that reclines. If it's just for this trip I would go with the volo and save a few dollars. Just my thoughts. Hope that helps.

The MAC volo has a 55lb weight limit I believe.

My concern would be for the height as well.

Based on your daughter's weight, it seems like she might be tall as well.

My DD just turned 5 - she weighs around 40lbs and is 42 inches tall. The volo is great for her height and weight and we love it! I think if she weighed more it would be fine but if she were a lot taller it would not be as comfortable for her to sit in it and worry about her feet dragging on the ground.

If you are able to, it might be best to have her sit in a Volo and see how it fits her.

Good luck! We wish would have known about and bought a Volo years ago!

There are a couple of swaps for the Volo on the budget board. You should check them out. What are your dates?

I already have a Graco Travel system (too bulky to bring) and a Peg Perego Pilko P3 (for DS). I am glad to know that Volo still pushes well for your DS at 48 lbs. Thank you for the input. :)

You might also think about renting a stroller. For our October trip, I took my 2 boys, without DH. So I needed a double stroller for my 2 boys (age 3/34lbs and 40in and DS6/43lbs/48in). I didn't have one and didn't want to buy one either. I needed one that could handle 45lbs in each seat (very limited selelctions for bigger kids) I looked at several consignment stores around town, but none had a good stroller that could accomodate larger weights. I checked out Orlando Stroller Rentals and their stroller was fabulous. The make a single and double stroller. I wrote a review including pictures, check it out:

Hi I am also interested as my DD will be 5 and around 50-55 lbs and the single strollers at the park was tight for her and my DH wants to go stroller free in Sept :scared1: He hates the problems with the busses and all I am thinking that we will have to rent a double :scared1: what about the jogging strollers you can rent do they hold a heavier child?? I am courious about that Thanks to anyone that can answer that question:goodvibes

The Maclaren Techno XLR has a 65lb weight limit I believe.

I bought a Volo on ebay for around $50-60 (brand new in the box) for an upcoming trip, she is 41 lbs. I tried it out at a local amusement park, and it was great. I wish I had one when she was younger. The height did become a little of an issue. DD learned how to press down on the footrest so it rubbed on the wheels and stopped. Slightly annoying! I loved the shoulder strap!

This is exactly right! Our very tall torsoed daughter outgrew her Mac Triumph by height - she was finding it cramped, even though she was only 40lbs, so, we upgraded to the Techno XLR @ 65lbs. It's a dream! It's much taller than the Triumph and Quest and so much more body room. It also has very extendable handles, comfortable seat pad, awesome sunshade and pretty good basket. She loves it as do we.

We tried the Volo and found it very cramped and low to ground - I know so many people on here recommend it, but for long torsoed kids, or, kids with long legs, it just doesn't work out.

The Techno is pricey, but watch out for sales and you can get a great price like I did at Babies R' Us.

Happy stroller shopping, Tiger :)

We went with the Techno.
We bought it for our DD (7 mos) and DS who was 4 when we went to WDW.
My 6 y.o. niece who is quite tall/heavy for her age fit really comfortably in it.
We have a travel system also, but we way prefer the Maclaren for everyday use.
IMHO it would be worth it to buy it for the future.

I just started a different thread about my maclaren, but I wanted to ask here as well. We already bought a Maclaren Quest just for our Disney trips and another for home. (Both of our parents live near Orlando, so we have doubles of everything in FL for our Disney trips). However, DD is only 2 1/2 months old and already 25 inches long. I am debating returning the Quest and getting the Techno XT instead since it has larger wheels and is a little higher off the ground and is bigger in size. This way she would be able to use it longer if she really ends up being super tall. Any thoughts, do you think I should upgrade?
