Which locations are available but not advertised?

Hi,

Does anyone know of other venues for ceremonies or receptions that aren't widely advertised?

I am planning for a vow renewal at WDW for 2010, a while away yet, I know, and I can't find anything that is jumping out at me. Our wedding was a big disaster, no flowers, no cake, no reception and 3 strangers as guests, so I want something really special for this time round.

Thare will only be about 20 of us at the most I think, and we aren't really fancy food people, so I am having a problem with the menus as well.

To be honest I am starting to think that it isn't going to be possible as the only place I have seen that I even vagely like apart from the Attic(the minimums for that are a bit high for such a small group of us:scared1: ) that I think will work for the reception is the Hollywood Hideaway in MGM, and I don't know if this is even an option. Has anyone used it?

Thanks.

I know that each pavilion in the World Showcase has a private room. I am not sure as to how many of them can be used for a reception though. I had mine in the American Adventure Parlor (3rd floor). I had around 30 people at the wedding, and it was perfect. Also, the room itself is really beautiful. I'm sure if you talk to someone at DFTW, they can give you a list and possible pictures of non advertised locations.

I'm having my reception at the Summerhouse patio at the Grand Floridian. I wanted a more laid back reception, so outdoors near the water was definitely the way to go for me.

Good luck with this...grumble...grumble... we tried to get our wedding coordinator to come up with some unusual/unadvertised locations and the best they could do was the lawn at the BoardWalk Inn! When we asked about venues inside the Animal Kingdom, we got sketchy details and were told we could not even see them on our site visit. So we kinda just picked the Attic cuz, as the OP said, it was the only location even vaguely appealing to us. However, when I saw it in person, I was sold. It is gorgeous inside (and not as knicky-knacky country cottage-y as it looks in pictures).

I get the feeling that Disney likes to stick with the advertised venues because they are easiest ones for Disney to work with. On the other hand, they will do their best to accommodate you, if you're willing to pay for it. It just seems like you have to know what to ask for.

Oh - one place I recently heard about people using was the private room at the Brown Derby in MGM - it sounds really glamorous!

Hi PrincessBride,
Do you have any pictures of your set up at the AAP?

Sorry OP don't mean to hijack your thread , you can hijack mine if you ever need too...

Don't have any pictures set up yet, but do have pics of the room.

Entrance from the elevator.

To try and describe the room layout. There were three rounds (10 place settings) and one small table at the end (near elevator) with the cake. Also, we had a sweetheart table in front of the middle window. Finally there was a buffet table set up on the upstairs part with the hors d'ouevres. Hope this helps.

BTW the do remove the furniture out of the room.

Thanks PrincessBride!
So the party is actually in the sitting room area? Or is there a different room for it?
My consultant sent me 2 different room pictures. 1 for the sitting area (which looks like your pics above) and the other one looks like a meeting room... which I thought is where the reception is held.

Our reception venue is not on the "official list" and we were offered several venues that aren't on the DFTW website - if you can ask to speak to Joe DeMatei who was our coordinator - we are having our reception in the AK and there is at least one other venue in the AK that you can have a reception in. PM me if you want to talk about it.

While we were visiting last week, we stopped by the Wilderness Lodge for lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We talked with a Cast Member there who used to live in NJ and he told us that they hold weddings there! I guess that must be one of those unadvertised locations.

He told us to go up to the 4th floor from the lobby and you can see it from there. It looked nice, but just not our cup of tea. The Wildnerness Lodge was so beautifully decorated for Christmas so I can see people liking that kind of thing. :goodvibes

Thanks for that :)

I had never even considered it (not that I'm getting married anytime soon, but you know what I mean!) as an option until I saw it in photos... it looks a lot more beautiful than I thought!

resurrecting an old thread here, but wanted to answer you question and give a picture from the reception. There are two rooms, but one is a board room. We used that room to hide in before we were introduced. We used the sitting room for the actual reception. Here is a pic of the room with the tables in it.
