Which is the quietest Deluxe?

I'm doing a solo trip in January for the Dopey Challenge (5k Thursday morning, 10k Friday, Half Marathon Saturday, full Marathon Sunday). Needless to say, since all of the races start at 5:30 am, and my alarm will be going off at 2:30, I'm trying to figure out where I can stay that going to be relatively quiet at night so I can get to sleep early.

I'd like to stay at a Deluxe because it seems to me that the mods are a lot bigger and might require a lot more walking to the buses... with 48.6 miles on my plate, I don't want to do a tone of walking.

In the past, my husband and I have stayed at AKL, BWI, GF and are staying at WL this summer. I stayed at the Poly as a child, but don't remember a lot of it.

Monorail/boat access not a necessity, since the runDisney buses are fine.

You can have the misfortune of screaming children running down the hallways at any resort, so your quest for a quiet deluxe may be a crap shoot. I have always found AKL to be peaceful. BWI and YC have reputations for being more "adult oriented" than some of the other deluxes and you may want to consider one of them. Swan/Dolphin may be other good choices for you.

Oops, I should have mentioned that Swan/Dolphin isn't an option because of transportation issues.

AKL at the end of one of the wings is incredibly quiet. But you don't really get to enjoy the view as much and it can be a hike to the room. Actually, any of the Deluxe resorts, if you request a room farthest from the elevator is going to give you quiet.

We found WL rooms to be very quiet and the resort itself has a peaceful atmosphere. :thumbsup2

AKL and YC are both very peaceful, especially compared to the BC, which seems to attract a louder crowd. But be aware that no matter where you stay, you could end up with a noisy neighbor! I had to switch rooms at YC because the neighbors (adults) were screaming at each other at all hours of the night and day :scared1:

We have found YC to be the quietest. BWI was the worst for us, but that had alot to do with the fact that we were placed in a room above the bar. I think if you were facing the center courtyard it wouldn't be nearly as bad.

I will say that we have had noise issues in every deluxe. (We have stayed in every one except WL and GF). Our noise issues always seem to be related to the public areas. BWI, POLY, and the BC were the worst for us. They seem to be the ones with more area open to outside guests. So many people there for the restaurants, transportation, using the hotel as a shortcut to get from one area to another, etc.

The quietest room we ever had was at BWI. I never heard a peep from neighbors and no noise from the halls during our three nights there. Standard view looking toward Epcot on fourth floor.

Our worst was at WL where four drunk guys came back to their room next door at 2am. North Wing, fourth floor woods view.

This... We have had quite and not so quiet rooms at each deluxe (we have stayed at all multiple times with the exception of AKL) it really depends on your neighbors and room location.

You can make a room request stating "quiet location, no connecting door." The connecting door is a biggie for me as I find it amplifies the neighbor noise exponentially. Just when I think a resort is quiet we return for another visit and are placed in a different area or have loud neighbors, so it really is just luck.

Of all the Deluxes we've stayed at, I would have to say AKL is the quietest. With a savana view, we've never really heard much in the way of noise in the evenings/nights. The very loud afternoon pool activites at all of the deluxes, IMO, have really put a damper on mid afternoon resort relaxation though.

BWI has been the quietest in my experience (i've done all but the Poly). I think room location, more so than resort, impacts the noise level. I've had a couple of really quiet stays at GF but then one my noisist stays was also there.

I'm not sure if DVC studios are on your list for consideration but OKW has always been very quiet for me.

If you are looking for smaller and more convenient for buses, why don't you consider POFQ? Only one bus stop and much smaller than other moderates. Just a thought.

SSR is by far the quietest resort I have stayed in on Disney property. OKW is a close second. The loudest for me was WL - it just seemed like I could hear alot more.
SSR was quiet not just in the room but also around the grounds which was wonderful.

AKL and YC, IMO. Unless you are facing the pool and need quiet during the day. GF was peaceful, but with all the construction and the additions I don't think it's so quiet anymore.

If quiet is the most important thing to you, a room in one of the AoA's suites would give you the best bet. The suite master bedroom is away from the hallways, so you really aren't bothered by other people at all. We stayed in a Cars Suite on the top floor last year, and it was very, very peaceful and relaxing. There was nobody above us stomping around, and you couldn't hear a thing from the hallway.

It's not a deluxe, but the AoA is really beautiful with very comfortable rooms. The Nemo rooms are very close to the main building and buses. You'd want to ask for one facing away from the pool though for maximum quiet.

OKW is clearly the winner in this category...it's so quiet it can be spooky at times. THe reason is how the resort is designed...small buildings spread out over a large area...SSR is also a good choice but it is a huge resort close to DTD so the sheer number of people makes SSR not a quiet as OKW.

At OKW request a room in a bldg that is not on the bus routes or near the main roads for a quieter experience.

My vote would be for OKW as well. It is very quiet there, especially if you get a building that is off the road. We loved how peaceful and quiet it was there.

I always travel with Pretty In Pink earplugs. I can sometimes find them at Walmart or they are always on Amazon. They are the first ones designed for women and the first I have found to be comfortable. Nice to have in case you get noisy neighbors, which can happen anywhere. :confused3

All I can say about the Dopey challenge is Wow! :thumbsup2
