I know I could look through 160 pages of info on tha tthread but I'm too lazy.

Which hotel should I book? I would like to be close to the grotto pool, transportation, you get the idea...you folks are very intuitive and smart and attractive and carring...enough sucking up

Thanks,

Having stayed at the Swan once and the Dolphin twice, I think the Dolphin is closer to the Grotto Pool. We usually get to the pool by exiting by the Health Club, and you are right there!

The boat dock to get to Epcot and MGM are equal distance to the doors of both resorts. You need to keep in mind though that the Dolphin has a lot more rooms than the Swan, and depending on where your room is located you may have twice as far to walk, but at least it's all in the air conditioning!

For bus transporation, the bus stop is right out front of both resorts.

Each has its advantages. The Swan is closest to the Boardwalk - for those nights when you stagger home from Jellyrolls! :teeth: The bus stops first at the Swan before continuing to the Dolphin and the other Epcot resorts, and also drops off guests there first on the return trip. Rooms at the Swan have 2 queen beds, and two sinks - one inside the bathroom and one outside.

The Dolphin has an awesome lobby...especially cool at Christmas time! The game room and laundry room are there, as well as the "fun" places to eat: Tubbi's and the Dolphin Fountain.

You can't go wrong with either resort. :)

If you book the West Wing of the Dolphin, you will be closest to the Grotto pool. If you can get a renovated room at the Dolphin, I'd go with that. Otherwise, get a Swan room with the Heavenly Beds. Both hotels are wonderful, and they are right next to (or right across from) one another.

You are really so close to everything from either resort. Think of it as a moderate and a walk to the food court or the main pool! BUT, it isn't a moderate, its a deluxe in all its glory! You have so many food choices in both resorts. If you have older daughters, I would go with the Swan so you will have two sinks/vanities, one of which is outside the bathroom. Late night eater? Go with the Dolphin for a quickie 24 hour food run. The main pool would be a tad closer to the Dolphin, but it is a very short trip from the Swan. Do you want big and grand? or a smaller hotel with less rooms and people? ACK! These are the same decisions I am trying to make and I've already been there once! (to the Swan).

Great job sucking up!

Debbie

We are booked for this April at the Swan...we had some of the same questions...we went for the better room rate!;) I was suprised to see that the Swan was about $30.00 less per night than the Dolphin.

I was kind of leaning towards the Swan anyway--the heavenly beds (queen-sized) and the 2 sinks will be nice.

I am happy with our decision--now we just need to count the days!:D

All above very good points. I prefer the Swan, mainly as it is snmaller. Dolphin is too big. Both though are great.

I'm in the same boat, can't decide which hotel. I like to grander atmosphere, but the 2 sinks. Are the beds that much smaller at the dolphin, but is the room size the same? I guess the rate will help make my decision.

I'm going Swan...
The heavenly beds sound heavenly.
I stayed at the Yacht Club in May and walked by the S & D many times...they seemed close, convenient, and very nice!
I don't think we can go wrong either way! And they give nurses a discount!!....I'm falling in love. :)

I have stayed at both with a recent Swan stay. I agree with all the other posters. I prefer the Swan b/c of its smaller size and seems more intimate. But, my DSs are young adults (20 and 18) and it is perfect for our family or trips with DH alone. However. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Dolphin again.

You will most likely see the Dolphin rates match the Swan's once its renovations are complete.

Thanks for the great replies. After reading them I think we'll go with Swan. I like the idea of a smaller resort and from what I have read it doesn't seem like there is a tremendous difference in walking distance from the rooms to the pool. We'll be walking to MGM and Epcot anyway so it's not like we're worried about the extra steps!

I also promise to time ourselves while we walk from Swan to various places...I know this would be helpful to quite a few folks!

If you don't have any ambulation problems, one is really just as convienient as the other. I was a little concerned after reading some of the questions about it, but when I actually went to them I was suprised. You could probably throw a rock from one and hit the other. Don't recommend it though.

My opinion is that if your healthy and have been walking around the parks all day anyway, whats another 200 feet. More to look at. The details at the on property resorts is what wins me over off property.

Of course, I'm not dealing with tired little ones. ;)

Anywhere at the world is better then at work. Have fun.:)
