Hi- just wondering why some say that PPH is closer to DL then the DLH? I know you can cut thru the Grand- but what if you are trying to get to DL before DCA opens? Or After DCA closes? Then Technically PPH is the farthest, right? Or am I missing something? :headache:

We cut through the grand to DTD and right to the gates of DL every morning. In my opinion the walk is not bad and I believe the "percieved" it is farther thing is due to it being on the other side of the street. Cutting through the grand is easy and it is such a beautiful hotel that you almost don't notice you are walking there is so much to see there.

Not to mention that the walk to DLH you may run into traffic in Downtown Disney since you have to walk the entire length of it. On the other hand when you cut through GCH you wil literally have to deal with traffic as you will need to cross at the intersection on Disneyland Drive. Time wise they are about the same, length wise DLH is shorter! ;)

Technically the average PPH room is closer to the gate than the average DLH room as the crow flies. By going through the GCH from PPH you can almost follow the Crow's path.

If you take the designated walkway from the PPH you almost walk by the DLH as you go, making it much longer. There is a path from PPH almost paralell to Disneyland Drive that enters DTD by the AMC theater. Though some people report that it isn't always open. Of course people who know about that path usually know to take the short path through the GCH anyway.

You can go through GCH and hit DTD. You don't have to go through DCA.

Timing wise, my walk from PPH by myself (no kids) to the WOD store (and then adding a couple minutes to get to the gate) versus walking from Dreams tower of DLH with the kids to the gates, PPH was longer. I also found the walk from DLH to be much nice. I was glad to not have the kids as I crossed traffic and the turnaround in front of GCH with lots of cars.

nice responses! so much to think about. So it seems that PPH is $50 less then DLH- but a longer walk, and DLH is still under construction. So I am going to way the pros and cons some more hehe. Well I could look at it this way- at some point I do really want to experience all 3 on sites- and I have already had the perfect room at the Grand. so I should prolly just do the PPH now- and then experience the DLH when its all finished next year. Right? hehe. Plus the extra walk will help work off those churros! :rotfl:

So take the short cut thru the Grand into DTD and hike it too the gates to get to Disneyland! Thats the best way right? Or if in the middle of the day- for quick breaks we can take the monorail to DTD then cut thru the Grand to get to PPH. I think I got it. I need a map hehe! Actually I am a little nervous about the secret short cut to cross the street from the Grand to PPH. I noticed a sign that said "PPH go this way" but I am not to take the sign route right? Cause thats the long way?

From the PPH yes walk through the GCH and it will be shorter than the walk to the gates from the DLH.

If you use the monorail it might help, just might, for two reasons.
1. It's park station is in Tommorowland only, so if not in TL or in DCA that will add some walking.
2. If you take it from DL to DTD, don't walk through the GCH to PPH. Ideally you would take the steps down from the DTD station go strait across the path and sneak between the AMC building and the Lego Store(this is right underneath the monorail track). I mentioned this path before and some have reported it's closed.

I hope that paths not closed- that would suck. Thats the path we used when we stayed at the Grand last year. Its the only path I do know! :rotfl:
Guess we will be on a journey! Thank you!

This thread has the distances and walk times:

DLH is quite a bit closer in distance but only 0.2 minutes closer in time due to the DTD factor which slows you down a bit, if not going through GCH then PP is quite a bit longer to walk.
