Which is closer?

Thanks for all the suggestions given on this board.

I can get basically the same rate at both the Tropicana and Hojo's. Less than a $10 difference between the two. Hojo's is running an internet special which is lower than the entertainment rate, 4 nights for $379 before taxes. This is what I was told over the phone.

Is one of these hotels better than the other? Which is closer? Is there better food at one? We've only been to DL once before and stayed at PPH. We enjoyed it but this trip is unplanned so I'm trying to spend less money.

Thanks!

I don't know who I was talking to. But someone posted the entertainment rate link and it looked like only one of the nights we're going is available. I'll have to investigate further.

I'm sorry, you absolutely were not talking to the right people about your Ent. Rate. No way would it be close to the Tropicana pricewise. Call back tomorrow and ask for Jennifer or Lorealle, but call the HoJo directly not the 800 number. Make sure you're talking to in-house reservations not the central line. I can guarantee you that the Ent Rate will be much better that $379 for 4 nights.

Tropicana is closer and it's a nice hotel but I'd rather stay at HoJo even with the 7-10 min. walk.

FYI, they add dates to the page, so you definitely want to keep an eye on it. :)

If you were talking to the 800# people, they were probably comparing their rack rates with the basic (something like 10%) Entertainment Book discount, vs the Anaheim-speciflc Entertainment Book discount. It's definitely worth it to call the Anaheim people during pacific time business hours to find out the full truth.

When you call them, make sure they know you're a disboard member, as that gets you 15% off rack rate. If you are an AP holder tell them that, and it's a 20% discount (you have to choose which discount, you can't use both, sadly, LOL) off rack rate.

Ask them about an internet rate, too.

That way you'll have proper numbers to work with.

Last May my feet were injured and I was walking slow, and one morning while walking along the "hotel side" of Harbor I took pictures with timestamps, to see how far away things were. From the HoJo parking lot (our room was at the very back and down a hall so for us you had to add that time in, but I just started timing it from about the middle of the parking lot to even it out) it was possibly 5 minutes from there to the sidewalk near Tropicana. And Lorealle from HoJo is a member of these boards, they seem to really care about people, so that makes people really happy about their hotel.

But others are happy about Tropicana, too, and for some cutting off that extra 5ish minutes off their walk is a terrific bonus!

HoJo doesn't have food, but they do have a little mini market (I've never been there).

It'll be good to have all the info from the Anaheim people tomorrow, good luck!
