My MIL thinks it would be more economical to take a taxi from MCO to the port than it would to rent a car.

Anyone know how much cab fare is?

Car rental would be around $40.

I don't even want to think about taking a taxi. The cost would be likely be very high.

More reasonable would be to use a towncar service (prearranged). I'm sure someone will provide details and recommendations. The cost will be still be considerably more than $40, but it would be a nice splurge, and you wouldn't have to deal with dropping off the car and taking a shuttle back to the port (with all your luggage).

You don't say how long your cruise is. If it's a 3- or 4-day, another option may be to rent for the duration of the cruise and park it at the terminal. Depending on what rate you can get, it may still be cheaper than a taxi or towncar even including $10/day for parking. And you don't have the hassle of dropping off, shuttle, shuttle, pickup. When you get off the boat you can just hop in your car and drive away.

a taxi would be horribly expensive ... it's a 45 minute to one hour drive (one way) ... you can do a one-way Budget rental (they have a shuttle to the cruise terminal) or you can do a towncar service like someone else mentioned.

It's farther to the port than to WDW from the airport. I think that getting a taxi to WDW was going to run us over $50 each way (back in 2002). DCL transfers are NOT that expensive :scared1: You should be able to rent a car for $35-$50 for one day, one way to the port. There are also towncar services available. I think using a taxi would be your last, desperate mode of transportation.
