Hi :wave2:

I was just wondering if going to disney the first time or the second time which is better?

The first time you go you have the mystery and its all new, but the second time you know what you're doing and what you like?

Just wondered what you all thought about this?

for me it has to be my third and fourth trips that come up trumps.
Before the third trip i discovered brits guide. The next trip is my fourth and since finding the dis i have learned so much more about disneyworld. Its made me so much more prepared with reservations and best days advice, not to mention all the little snippets i've picked up along the way.
Plus reading everyone elses posts gets me all giddy!!!

The second time was much better for us.

Our first trip was pre-DIS and we just did not plan enough or know where to go or what to see! We missed so much.

Now each trip is better than the last as we discover new things :)

I thought that our first holiday was very overwhelming, and as we now head towards our 10th trip I have to agree with Tim, it just gets better the more times we go :)

It gets better the more times you go for three reasons:

a) You get to know what you want to do again and again and will always look forward to, i.e. Splash Mountain / Tower of Terror
b) You get to know what to miss and will never do again, i.e. everything bar Test Track and Mission:Space in EPCOT :teeth:
c) Using boards (like this one) and books you can find the things that you'd like to try on the next visit(s).

So I would say it does get better. One of the best parts of the whole experience is planning the trip with your family. If they've already been they know what they want to do again and this gets them excited.

Definitely gets better the more you go.

The first time we went I knew virtually nothing about Disney , now we have been many times we have the knowledge to ensure we get the best out of our holiday, plus there are so many different things to do/see and the challenge of making the next holiday better than the last one.

My first trip was all about me,because it was me and a friend,28 years old.So we could do what we wanted at our own pace and had the adult evening entertainments too!

Since then its been with cousins and now its with my own children each visit. So its a totally different experience - I enjoy watching their reactions to things.I miss out on going on all the scarey rides at the moment. But no I can go on again in the future!!

i love the fact that there are always new rides and shows to experience.

Who knows, maybe my 100th time will be the best!!!

Keep them coming,

Lynn :cool1:

the first time all I knew was I wanted to go to Disney, all my life thats all I wanted, I didnt realise how big it was how much to do....or...now wait for this...that planning was a nessecity...OMG

Not that I didnt enjoy the first trip, but peeps...I knew nothing...NOTHING I tell you, I was not disney educated, I did not do any character meals :sad2: and i did no ps's....we even stayed on site...and still I knew nothing.

The second time....it took me a year + to plan...and I did around 10 ps,s 4 charater meals and knew where those nice spots for the parade were. and how to work the fast pass system.

I am now in the process of planning our 3rd World trip, we aint going until August 2008...so I would imagine its going to be the best yet

I'm with Angie on this one, my first trip was unplanned and although it was brilliant we only discovered what we'd missed (if that makes sense) by the following trips, its so nice not to have to look at the maps to find restaurants/ciggie stops/restrooms etc

First trip was just magical, seeing the castle for the first time, meeting Mickey for the first time...etc. I sometimes I wish I could go for the first time again. You do learn more and more about the place each time you go though and get more out of your trips because of this. I'm doing loads of stuff that I never knew about on our next visit :)

For us, the 1st trip was better than the 2nd because everything was new - last time we sort of knew what to expect so some of the magic had gone out of it for us. Having said that, the 2nd trip was only for a week and it was somewhat rushed so that may have been what ruined it slightly. I'm hoping the 3rd trip (and now the 4th) will surpass both the 1st and 2nd trips though :)

Absolutely...as a life experience, the first visit to Disney cannot be bettered; but for a holiday, return visits improve things.

The 1st trip, my first trip abroad, seeing the castle, the parades, meeting Mickey and Minnie just everything about this trip was magical .

Its tough really, as the first time you see the castle and everything its simply breath taking! :goodvibes

But I would say now I know what disney has in store for us when we go next year I am even more excited :Pinkbounc if thats possible???

The best is going to be this August. First time was spoilt by the rain (2003), 2004 was good but I have picked up so many tips and advice from the Dis that this one is going to be really special

I have been 4 times and the last time was the best. I think you get the best out of WDW by taking things slowly, eating at the right restaurants and just wandering around taking in the ambience. The first time you go I feel that because there is so much pressure to experience every ride and attraction, you don't necessarily appreciate what its all about.
I also think that it's difficult for us Brits to travel to Orlando and not go to all the other non WDW parks. I didn't set foot out of WDW last holiday and that for me was super magical.
Of course, reading the right guide books and learning invaluable tips on board also adds immeasurably to the whole Disney experience. I'm sure my first trips would have been a lot better if I'd internet access then!

My first and second trips were ten years apart so really it was like having a first trip twice over :)

My favourite trip so far has been my fourth, in part because now we take time to enjoy the very special atmosphere at WDW rather than just dashing about trying to squeeze everything in!

You and I definitely need to talk about Epcot! :teeth: You're not there at WDW in October by any chance, are you? I'll take you around and, trust me, you'll come to love it as much as I do! :thumbsup2

The first time we went I can remember being on the boat heading towards the Magic Kingdom, turning to face Tam I said 'This has been an ambition of mine all my life, to visit WDW'.
I read a couple of Disney comics (Sword in the Stone and 20,000 Leagues Uner the Sea' when I was around 5 and had been hooked ever since. In those days you didn't travel to the US unless you were incredibly rich so I never really thought it would happen.
Seeing the castle in the distance as the boat was gliding across the Seven Seas Lagoon on a perfect Florida morning is one of the abiding memories of my life.

Every Florida holiday is different and every one is special, but the first time for me was magical.

Aww, that's sweet, you sentimental old thing. I didn't know that. (Well, I knew you were old, just didn't know about the sentimental bit! ;) ).
