Everyone claims to be "right across the street" from Disneyland park- however, when walking with small and not-so-small tired and irritable children, which one would you recommend? I'm looking for the fastest time, shortest route, and preferably the safest one to walk from. Thanks!!!!!!

You're wise not to believe the "right across from Disneyland" line many of the area hotels use, however Carousel is literally right across the street from Disneyland. It's a little north of the main entrance where the big crosswalk is, so probably a five-minute walk along and across Harbor.

Portofino is a little farther--about a block south of Disneyland on the corner of Harbor and Katella. I don't know if I would risk walking it with irritable children, although I loved Portofino's Kids' Suites. You'd have to cross the street at Katella and the access road the buses use on your way to the Disneyland entrance. It would probably be a 15-minute walk total. Portofino does have a shared shuttle, though.

With the recent renovations of Disneyland and its surroundings, that whole area of Anaheim seems cleaner and safer than in the old days. I would not hesitate to walk to any nearby hotel, even at night.

If you click on this link DL Aerial Map you can get an idea where the hotels are located. It helped me make my decision on where to stay. HTH ;) :smooth:

Carousel is the closest actually it would be hard to be closer. We have stayed there twice last time was a couple of years ago fairly basic hotel room. Room was clean average size good for two adults. If there are children rooms would be ok with either 1 teenager or two smaller children. I think they still include a continental breakfast which when we were ther included danishes toast coffee juice. we found it ok to get the day started.
Only negative we had last time was that due to shortage of staff the rooms sometimes were not cleaned untill later on which sometimes was a problem for us as we like to back to the room for awhile in the afternoon other than that would stay there again we considered it for our trip this year but decided to try somewere new
