We're planning a Christmas trip to Disneyland and are 3 adults and 2 kids. The kids at the time of the trip will be 13 and 3.

Currently we're planning on staying in the kids suite at the HoJo, but I'm wondering... what other Good Neighbor hotels allow 5 in a room without insisting that you purchase a 2nd room?

For that matter, do any of the on-site hotels allow this?

The Park Vue lets you. My sister has stayed in a regular room with 5 numerous times. We also had 8 in a suite room with no issues.

If you go to disneyland.com and type in your travel dates you can see what your options are for on-site and good neighbor hotels. :thumbsup2

You don't have to get a Kids Suite to have 5 in a room at HoJos, we have a Premium room booked with a rollaway and there will be 5 adults in our room. The Premium rooms are quite spacious and have a second sink outside the bathroom.

True, but we like having the kids in their own room so we actually get a bit more sleep! :rotfl: But that's still good to know, just in case we need to pare down the budget a little.

Residence Inn Maingate. Cannot speak more highly of this place, 10minute walk if that from the gates of Disneyland. We stayed in one of their 'Penthouse Suites - bylevel loft' which had a small kitchen, tv lounge area and two queen sized beds + tv in a seperate glassed door area, with a walk in bathroom. In the loft there was another queen bed and bathroom.

They also have a '2 Bedroom Suites' which is similar but it doesn't have a loft (I think), instead two bedrooms one with a queen, one with two queen beds, otherwise I'm sure it is similar to the penthouse suites.

Looking on their website, their smaller suites also can hold 6 people, with two queens and a sofa bed but if your family was like mine, by the end of the day we all wanted some space of our own. Not sure of room rates but it was fairy good (but we were there in off season) but it was certainly cheaper than buying two rooms in some other hotels.

Also, there is a free breakfast (cerals, fruit, waffles, hot meat, pancakes etc) and they offer light meals on certain nights. Very family friendly :)

Thanks for the review! We are staying there in April- high season week before Easter, family of 5, 1 bedroom suite so we have a bedroom with 2 queens, living area with pull out sofa and full kitchen. FWIW we got a rate of $189 plus double Marriot points and a 20% discount on our rental car (and double points from that too!) because we are Marriot Reward Members. Our kids are looking forward to checking out the "sport court" since they love to play basketball and I love that breakfast is included.

We have stayed at the RI Maingate often in the past and love it. We prefer this place over the many others that are a bit closer.

We've done Grand Californian and the Disneyland Hotel with 5 people :thumbsup2

And if recall correctly, I believe Desert Inn and Suites do as well :confused3 Right across from the main crosswalk on Harbor Blvd. Cheap and perfectly located!
