Which Hotel?

Hello everyone. I am planning a trip in Sept with 2 of my DDs and my DGD. I was wondering, between the Cheyenne and the Santa Fe which one is more popular with the experts here as both are similar in price.
I have been to Orlando twice but never DLRP so any help is much appreciated.
We can't really stretch to the more expensive hotels as new baby is due soon but we want to take DGD before she gets much older. She will be 4 in Sept!
SIL and DH have volunteered to stay home with baby so its an all girl trip.!!!

Hi there and

We have oly stayed at Cheyenne never at Santa Fe. Cheyenne is nice, clean and fun. There's a lovely pleyground outside the little bungalows which my DDs loved. The rooms are quite big, we had a big bed, bunk beds and a travel cot for the baby and still had room. It's simple and nice. The main building (reception, restaurant, shop...) is in a different building and the rooms are in little bungalow style houses. The theme is Cowboys and they also offer horse/pony riding.

Overall, we liked the hotel.

Personally i would choose the Cheyenne for its theming which is great fun.

I've been to both - the outer theming is much better at the Cheyenne, but personally, I prefer the rooms in the Santa Fe (the beds are amazingly comfy - maybe its just me, but I slept much better in the Santa Fe room bed than the Cheyenne one).

The size of the bedrooms and bathrooms in both hotels are the same. There are also outside play areas in both (the Cheyenne has a fort and teepees though).

Breakfast is comparable in both hotels too.

Enjoy your girls trip (mine is always a girls trip too ).

we stayed at the cheyenne last june and loved it, will be staying at santa fe in april, if cheyenne was available i would have booked there again but, i guess it will be nice to experience a different hotel. I'll write a trippie when i get back so keep an eye out...

Have stayed at both and preferred the Cheyenne, not a great difference between hotel, locality, etc. but the theming of the Cheyenne is superb.

Thankyou for the speedy and helpful replies! I like the look of the Cheyenne but we can get an extra night for free at the Santa Fe so might opt for that! Decisions, decisions......arghhh. Anyone have a pin?! lol

Is that offer not available for the Cheyenne too? Usually the free night offer is available at all the onsite hotels.

The Santa Fe was fine, but the Cheyenne is more fun, and I prefer the main area there too.

The offer only appears to be on the Santa Fe but maybe things will be different when I go into the Travel Agents to book. So far I have just been sorting out all my options online. The Cheyenne was offered as 38.01 less but no extra night.

I find that strange as Becky said if Disney are the ones doing the extra night free then it usually applies to all their hotels. What dates were you looking at in September?

I queried for 3 nights/4 days starting on 14th September 2008 and the options were:
Santa Fe £507.00 ~~
Cheyenne £468.99 (£90 Early Booker) or~~
Santa Fe for the same price (£507) ("1 night/1 day Free)
Maybe not all the alternatives are shown online??
As a first timer for DLRP I am easily confuddled..lol.
I think I would prefer the Cheyenne but would find it hard to pass up that extra day!!

I'd suggest you call Disney and see if the offer is valid for Cheyenne. When they have offers like that it's valid for all the Disney hotels. A bit confusing tho...

Just had a quick look and it's definately coming up as an extra night and day free available at the Cheyenne as well on those dates

but you lose the early booker discount of £90.00, on the offer, so it actually works out £90.00 dearer if that makes sense.

Another vote for the Cheyenne, although there is little between them.
Both hotels are only a short walk or shuttle bus from the parks

SnowWhite I'd suggest you go back online, and instead of picking the Santa Fe for your preferred dates, pick the Cheyenne. That way, you already know what your prices are for the Santa Fe, and you'll now get the prices, including any offers, for the Cheyenne. The website comes up with the 3 nearest options to your choice each time you ask for a quote.

After 3 stays at Santa Fe, I finally stayed at Cheyenne in November. It was brilliant (especially considering that I'm a huge fan of Westerns and country music.) Santa Fe is a very nice hotel but for me, Cheyenne just added that extra bit of magic. There's nothing more special, in my opinion, that spending hours in my favourite area (Frontierland), then walking through the superbly themed Cheyenne and stopping for a quiet beer in the Red Garter Saloon with some live country classics. It's what makes Disney such an experience for me.

Can't remember exactly but I think it was 5 euros. Definitely less than 10!
