Which Hotel?

Hi, I'm a newbie and this is my first question, although I'll probably have lots more.

I am looking at taking my 4 year old to DLP maybe in Sept/Oct. In my opinion, we will won't be spending alot of time in the hotel so am not looking to spend a huge amount although I obviously want somewhere clean and comfortable. I want to stay in the Disney Village area and am looking at either the Santa Fe, Cheyenne or Sequoia Lodge. I know this a personal question, but which would you choose and why?

Also, I have been looking on the official Disney web site and if I book the Santa Fe or Cheyenne I am only offered the standard half board package - would I be able to upgrade to the Plus package?

Thank you so much for your help and advice.

Hi,

You're right, which hotel you prefer to stay at is definitely a personal choice. I've not stayed at the Sequoia Lodge, but have stayed at the Cheyenne and Santa Fe.

I prefer the Santa Fe. The external theming at the Cheyenne is way better, and the restaurant and reception/lounge areas are great there too, but the bedrooms are all about the same size in both hotels, and in my opinion, the beds at the Santa Fe are more comfortable than the Cheyenne. Most rooms at the Cheyenne are one queen size bed and one set of bunks. Most rooms at the Santa Fe are 2 queen size beds.

I admit my experience at the Cheyenne was marred a tad by our room being positioned across from a fire exit door, which was banged pretty much continually for a couple of hours at our bedtime, by a group of schoolgirls chasing each other up and down the stairs.

But, as we also only use our hotel to sleep, shower, and change in, and because the beds are so comfy, I prefer the Santa Fe.

We have only stayed at the Cheyenne and found it to be great and are returning in 2 weeks. My reasons for liking it are:

My 7 yr old daughter loved the theming (She thought it was a real western town)

The rooms were cleaned well everyday.

Because they're seperate buildings with rooms in, you only ever have 1 flight of stairs to climb.(If your on the top)

The bar was relaxing & if the weather is o.k you can sit outside & the little one can run about.

If you prefer to walk to the parks, instead of getting the shuttle bus, it is a nice walk along side the water and no traffic.

The queen sized bed & bunks worked well for us & we also had a travel cot & there was still enough room for my 1 yr old to run about.

But yet again, it does come down to personnel choice, we wouldn't use a pool, so thats why we didn't go to Sequoia Lodge.

Hope you enjoy wherever you pick.

Hi CityBlue and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

If you phone I'm sure you are able to upgrade to half board + :)

We are also in the throws of indecision to decide which of the 3, shall we say, more reasonably priced hotels to choose from.

We are now leaning towards the Santa Fe. We liked the look of the Sequoia but this was mainly for the pool, our 2 year old son (Josh) loves swimming, however I feel that if we do the parks all day and Josh still has the enery to swim we wont have squeezed every Disney Euro out of the park experience.

We have stayed at the Cheyenne before but what is really putting me off is Josh and those bunk beds, I think he would like the theming of the place but it will only be a matter of time before he discovers that ladder and the freefall opportunities that, way up high, bed will offer.

So I think the Santa Fe is going to be our choice plus we have friends staying at the Sequoia so we would have a room to change in if we wanted to go for a swim ;)
