Is there a thread or sticky to help pick which on site hotel to pick? We are going Oct 1 - Oct 3. We are a family of five - all I know is that I need to stay on site b/c of the front of the line pass. Or so I think. I sometimes think I could be swayed to stay at the Fairfield Inn.

Thanks for any direction pointers in help picking which hotel.

This sticky is currently the second thread on this board:

Sticky: Staying @ Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bay Resort, or Royal Pacific Resort? Start here!

The rooms at the PBH are larger. Not an issue if you plan on booking 2 rooms but might make a difference if you're only going to book one room with 2 Q beds and a rollaway.

Our hotel of choice is Hard Rock. We have stayed in one room with a roll away when one of our kids took a friend with them. It can be done, just keep the bed folded up until it needs to be used. We have just gotten to the point that since our kids are now in their 20s we just get two rooms. We use the AAA discount and book two garden view rooms. Since we book the garden view classification we were told that our request for connecting rooms would be guaranteed. We have done it this way for years and have never not had the connecting rooms. As I said, it can be done in one room with 5. The two rooms would give you two bathrooms which can be worth it in itself since getting ready in the morning is much quicker.

I always recommend staying on site not just for the unlimited FOTL pass with your room key for most of the rides, but its just so much more convenient staying on site, you are so close to everything, the parks, City walk etc.

Now IMO Portifino is the nicest, most plush of the resorts, and has the best pool as well (actually P has 3 pools, but the main pool is very nice IMO). Now we usually end up actually staying at the ROyal Pacific, which I really like a lot, but its cheaper than the P and that is the main reason. Hard Rock is my least favorite.

Now with saying all that, except for Halloween Horror nights, I am guessing October during the day time is going to be fairly light crowds so you probably would not HAVE to stay on site. It depends on your budget really, if you really need to save the dollars, you could get away with staying off site in October I believe. But if you have the money to burn, definitely stay on site.
