Which hotel? HOJO, Camelot, or Desert Inn?

They were getting it fixed but did not say when it woudl be done.

Originally I was hesitant to book the Desert Inn because it was so cheap. But after reading some reviews from Disboarders I decided what the heck. So I booked a standard room with 2 queen beds. I found the room to be a very nice size. There was 3 of us and we found we had tons of room. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff were very nice and accomadating. We did not use the pool area because we found we did not have enough time. The continental breakfast was just your average pastrys, cereal, fruit and juice nothing special. We had a big 12 passenger van and the desk staff was very accomadating allowing us to park in special spots because the parking is limited.

I am planning a trip back to disneyland in 2010. I will definately stay at the Desert Inn. The only thing I would change is I would book a room with a jacuzzi tub.

When you consider how much you walk all around the park, all day long, for us, the walk to Hojo's doesn't seem to make much difference in the end. It is only 7 minutes, so not bad, (even the closest hotels are still at least a 2-3 min. walk from the main gate) and with McD's and Mimi's on the way home, as well as the well stocked Hojo's convenience store, we've enjoyed staying there. The pool and splash pools are great for kids. The BEDS are HEAVENLY and I don't think I could ever give that up. Prior to staying at other hotels on other vacations to other destinations- we would always end up with very sore backs. NOT so with Hojo's premium pillow top mattresses. Wow. I love the in-room safes as well. And the other many perks a the Hojo. Free wired internet, (free use of computers in lobby if need be) fridge, microwaves, excellent coffee machines. NO parking fees, which other hotels add on, as well. The other hotels call things like that a 'resort fee' which everyone must pay daily whether they like it or not. Ugh. The cleanliness of the rooms has always impressed me, as has the staff. If you go to travel advisor and read reviews on the various hotels, I think you'll find that Hojo's stands out as being one of the better ones, and for a very reasonable rate. As far as the 'free breakfasts' go, we find we need a more substantial meal to get us going, one that has proteins, carbs, and even fats. It's hard to feel full from a free continental breakfast. Mimi's, close to Hojo, works great, as does McD's for a powerhouse breakfast to head to the parks. The staff at Hojo's has always been super nice to us. This is right from when booking, to checking out. I'm sure other hotels will be fine - but Hojo's is finer, in our opinion. :woohoo:

I just want to mention, we love Hojo's have stayed there many times over the past 18 years, will be there again at the end of this month...the beds have all been upgraded to the pillowtop matress except for the ones in the 2 story pavillion buildings. Those are buildings 3,4,5,6 apparently those beds are good too... I'll let u all know how they compare when we get back. Just don't want anyone to go based on that and wonder what's going on. Also, through the years as we've become grandparents... I've developed osteoarthritis in my spine, and a bad hip, hubby has developed degenerative disk disease...that extra walk along harbor blvd. Used to be a lot easier! We have used the shuttle, but that adds $6. Per day for 2 people to the cost of the room. For that reason we really appreciated Candy Cane Inn's private shuttle. I have a feeling soon, that is going to be the deciding factor in where we stay. Hojo's uses the ART system and shares shuttles, they are last to be picked up on way to park which is good, no long ride but you may have to stand. They are last to be dropped off on return which is a fairly long ride, probably 10 min. Too bad they don't have their own anymore. Still, especially with the entertainment rate you can't beat it! Paying over $100 a night when it's not available on the other hand, is the reason we tried Candy Cane Inn!
